Less than two weeks ago I wrote the following about the hopeless Democrat, Joe Biden in his bid to become President in 2020:
Biden is rapidly disavowing most of these past positions to reduce his exposure, as well as reducing his exposure overall, but it’s very early days and I can’t see him escaping these attacks as the field narrows.
And it has not taken even a fortnight to see a Biden faceplant, this one on abortion, where he first affirmed his past support for the Hyde amendment, which bans Federal money being used for abortions – and then reversed himself after the inevitable outcry:
“It’s not just a flip-flop. It’s like a double axel flip-flop, and he’s not even nailing the landing,” said Democracy for America Chairman Charles Chamberlain, whose group has supported Warren and Sanders in the past.
…
For Biden, Chamberlain said, “It does seem like we’re hurtling ever and ever closer to the fateful day when the train completely goes off the tracks.”
This is my shocked face.
It also turned out that his big Climate Change plans were plagiarised from other documents. Given his history that should have been No. 1 on the Stupid-Stuff-Joe-Must-Not-Do list pinned to his sleeve.
Naturally – and again entirely as expected – this has given his rivals a chance to start exploiting his other vulnerabilities:
Bakari Sellers, a commentator and former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, who is supporting Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), described Biden’s contortions this week as a “clusterfuck.”
…
Sellers added, “Since he has recognized that his position for 30 years has been incorrect and he is now changing that, I think it is only fair he now does that with his position on the Iraq War and his position on the ’94 crime bill — and the ’88 crime bill and the ’86 crime bill.”
The headline for that last link is “Biden World shell-shocked amid Hyde furor“. I don’t see why they should be surprised; “shell-shocked” perfectly describes Biden’s constant mental state! The only time it’s relieved is when he opens his mouth, which with all those perfect teeth, is actually his brain’s desperate attempt to flash a Morse Code saying, “Please help me stop this thing moving“.
But if you thought this was just another example of the mental degradation of advancing years I have bad news for you.
Not far away on the East Coast, the young Democrat Political Superstar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the very opposite of Stale, Male and Pale, tweeted a video of herself talking about… lotsa stuff:
“…Whenever we come out, whenever we activate, it’s not always in resistance. It’s not always to protest the things that we want, or prevent the expansion of a world that is unjust. But we also come together to put together a vision of the world that we want to build for ourselves
…
Because when we come together and we decide that we’re gonna shut down Rikers, and we’re gonna turn it not into a playground for the real-estate lobby, and not into a playground for the rich, but we’re gonna put it, and we’re gonna transform it into a public good for all people
…
If you just put 25% of Rikers Island and cover it in solar panels, we can close every toxic power plant in New York City that was built in the last two decades
…
And we have to always realize that these injustices aren’t abstract. Right? Our right to clean air and our access to clean water always falls along lines of income, it falls along lines of privilege. And so what we need to make sure is that no child is getting subjected to asthma because of the family that they were born in and the ZIP code that they were born in
…
And so my vision, and what I’m so excited to show and to discuss is how we’re gonna move forward… Not only how we’re gonna stop the bad things, but how we’re gonna heal and build for our future…
I’ve been kind here in trying to split this up into paragraphs where she pauses for breath, but this is serious mouth music, or perhaps Glossolalia (Speaking in Tongues)?
After this, I want to see her trying a version of the following Cocteau Twins classic. Even if she doesn’t have the soprano range of Elizabeth Fraser I swear she’ll match her in lyrics.
