No Minister

Really just can’t help themselves

National have given us an incredibly rich pick list of “Seriously, what the fuck?” moments over the last few months, but this one just boggles the mind:

In which a senior National Party official pretends to be someone else so he can undermine a candidate of his own party, including a smear campaign against her in which a photo of her in a leotard is parlayed into a bullshit story about her being a stripper (an attack line which reveals the male leadership’s fucked-up attitudes to women in more ways than one). User @noFloatingVoter on Twitter sums it up nicely:

You seriously could not make this shit up.  Clear these dinosaur fucktards out of your party if you want to regain some respectability in the electorate.

  1. Have to agree, Psycho, it’s not a good look. Wash linen in private. Amazingly stupid. Most people couldn’t give a toss but tragics and journalists will have a field day.

  2. Nice to see that you are more concerned with some internal ructions within National (where I am certain there will be some savage bloodletting for the culprit(s)) than you are with revelations of barefaced lying by thePM, Minister of Finance and DG of Health on multiple occasions.
These untruths being consistently promulgated which is a pretty good indication that it was planned and considered and was no accidental slip of the tongue.
Add in the $16 million spend on spin lines during the “crisis” and you complete the picture of a deeply corrupt Government that promulgates expressions of TRUTH, TRUST, HONESTY, and COMPASSION but is all the time operating in the opposite manner and is treating the population as convenient idiots to be manipulated as it suits.
Of the two issues, I know which one concerns me the most and which one has the capacity to impact on me and on the ability of the country to work its way out of the enormously deep hole this Government has dug us all into.

    • Yes, I am much more concerned about having a completely dysfunctional Opposition (something that isn’t good for the country) than I am about allegations of lies and corruption from partisans. During the Key years in government, some commenters at The Standard kept a running tally of the alleged lies and corruption that supposedly typified that governments operation. It’s just noise.

    • @ David’s

I’ll say it seeing Milt was too polite. Don’t like the subject of a post, including when you would rather do a whataboutism troll? Then start your own blog.

Basic rule of politics: if you can’t govern your own party you are in no fit state to govern the nation. I’ll be voting National but judged on recent performance, including this latest idiot in Auckland Central, the halcyon days of Key, English and Joyce are long gone. They are looking grubby, out of touch and, worst of all for the National Party, incompetent.

  3. You have to realize Milt National is a party of loosers – sad old men who like to be dominated by women

Labour supporters of course look to women who will kiss their boo boos better, fix their grazed knees sort of thing

National’s male supporters want a woman who will beat their bare rears with a cane if they get out of line which is why crusher Collins makes them go weak at the knees

Normal people have nobody worth voting for in this election alas given the lunatics now control the asylum

    • Andrei, when did you leave the church and join the Taliban? Oops, my bad, two peas in a pod, anti-women to the core.

    • Seems like a bit too much information in that piece of likely projection, Andrei.

  4. Oh dear the Prime Minister caught lying again today about police numbers under her and under Judith , our next Prime Minister.
Makes the trivia noise around this guy sound like, well like trivia noise.

    PS Milt
Can you get your dirty tricks dept to stop defacing the National posters in my electorate….getting sick of the Hitler moustaches.
    So trivial.

    • I already said further up the thread that allegations from partisans about lies and corruption lack interest.

  5. This probably covers it in more detail?–AKlXX9XvBkSYQ_E26qIhdLzhD4NkV20BIe_Wd6uPWgHfWL5QsSBe0BdRqsgcv2AapqaNiz79IeuWllCsUf3CMiYpO518OUDjz6K1CiW-yXHpMIjwCtHd70MSo_wwzZpbwNEsfY4jN6W_KgxyW8wP1yjLDbJp6uPNrd0_5KYT3uiGI4nKLIgj0m2F0hm0VLkcw7Mqnscw55TXHrN5jqo-mdIYW6Qx7SoAXkKAK08rgPdRT8zA1E528Ur-a8mCBzIUiYrnunzFDx4R58HWQVajsIMUFBNeGeTgEjkkQM-tSOwzYSejbfsQQ9AfV87AdgYMv7-I2qiKEa1a5WVhcePa1VH8A&tn=EEHH-R

    • Yes, those kinds of allegations. The numbers are disputed, ie the usual thing of definitions, start-and-end dates for the counts etc. Which version we run with is a matter of political preference, not accuracy.

    • I saw David Ferrari trying to forment this piece of silliness. So, just to give context:

…by what mind-reading powers does Farrar, the desperate tragics who are trying to make this piece of beltway nonsense a meme, and you know that this was deliberate deceit on Ardern’s part instead of just honestly getting it wrong?

Hanlon’s Razor: never ascribe to malevolence what can be equally explained by incompetence. And as Ardern was so devoid of knowledge during the last campaign she didn’t even know the day the Reserve Bank was announcing the OCR, I favour ignorance.

And once you quibble over the definitions, and expect busy people to read a list where there was a marginal increase, not decrease in police numbers on Collins’ watch, it’s a case of “explaining is losing”, especially as it is two politicians arguing over stuff that happened 10 years ago! Relevance? Very, very little.

But hey, if you think this is the sort of killer-blow that will appeal to swinging voters, instead of merely preaching to the converted, knock yourself out. Personally as negative politics is a turn off, especially when directed as someone as likeable as Ardern, I think it is a failure. Better to criticise the lack of competence of Ardern and her government, because that’s more believable.

    • David Ferrari

I like that. Especially since that’s the last car that comes to mind when one sees pictures of DPF, even in his new, fatherly, slimmed down form. 😂

Seriously dude? You couldn’t use “a href” but have to put all that ugly URL shit on screen?

      Shame on you.

  6. “I already said further up the thread that allegations from partisans about lies and corruption lack interest.” Psycho Milt.

And which part of partisan are you Milt ?

And for the a lot of people who want the PM to set an example, per her promises it doesn’t lack interest.

  7. What a load of bullshit , another failure from this Govt, locking the country down again….at what cost!!
