If we don’t want to experience what Victoria’s going through right now, we need to take contact tracing seriously.
As of this morning, our ability to avoid Victoria’s fate depends on the ability of the four infected people to give the government’s contact tracing team accurate details of where they’ve been for the last two weeks, on what days, and at what times. Have a think about your own ability to do that if you had to, and whether it needs improving.

Memo to government
Start managing the border and quarantine properly. That is where the problem is, and always has been
From what I hear, quarantine and the border (aircrew, bus drivers etc) still do not follow proper processes. Quarantine is still very poorly managed. Hotels where everyone mixes. Hotel staff who do not follow procedures of social distancing and minimal testing of staff. My wife passes a couple of the facilities daily. She says it is obvious that they are not well run.
Index case is Pasifika. Be ironic if the person was Samoan.
Pretty much expected with all the ‘sudden’ return of the COVID 19 blurb on TV.
Can we have a little honesty from those running this politically controlled pandemic and no more of that ‘umpteen days since the last case’ BS
Was fair enough by the government, imho. Were waiting for confirmation. And short lead in time means little scope for panic buying.
…and yes, it is pretty obvious that Auckland, in all likelihood will be going beyond Friday night in lockdown.
…but how this new spread occurred is a different matter and one for which full transparency should be forthcoming, ASAP
Gerald the annoying aspect was the index case been symptomatic for five days and only identified when the wife presented. That’s irresponsible.
Maybe there was a reason? All contract tracing ends at the index case. Has the person told the truth to the contract tracers? Why wait so long to be tested when everyone is aware of the symptoms that relate? Time to bring in the Police.
Plus the bright lights and the rubber hoses! That’ll learn ’em.
No need for rubber hoses. Detectives would probably obtain more from their investigative techniques than contract tracers.
If it’s the same Plods who ok’d the gun licence based on two internet chat friends who “knew him well” for the POS who did the mosque shootings, I wouldn’t be so sure. But as per another recent thread, the cops are 100% behind the “give no place to racism” campaign, so good to see they are concentrating on real crime, and stuff that really affects the nation. 🙄
