No Minister

Covid-19 thought for the day

Are the quarantine facilities PCBUs?

If they are, and that’s almost certain, should the government, or certain Ministers, be prosecuted for failing to take all reasonable steps to ensure health and safety of workers at the facilities, or members of the public?

If people die as a result, is this Pike River or White Island without the explosions?

My suspicious mind is thinking this is possibly why the government is trying to suggest the recent outbreak came via imported food products into a facility they have no control over.HSAWA

  1. Those are very pertinent questions.

  2. Inconvenient questions … better go careful there Nick least you run the risk of being called out for undermining confidence in the government.

  3. I don’t know Nick. Prosecutions? Kicking bureaucratic and Cabinet Minister butt?

It seems so lacking in empathy and compassion and …. oh what’s the word I’m looking for here…?

    Ah! That’s it.

Unkind. All very unkind. And we don’t want that.

  4. Well Tom David Farrar is being very very unkind over there on KiwiBlog.

He is giving Jacinda, the liar and head incompetent, and her other incompetents a total tongue lashing!!

    • A National Party shill shilling for the National Party. Colour me not in the least surprised.

Go this today, from a Kiwi friend – Kia Ora, Angry Maori.

      Pretty accurate, methinks.

  5. Forgive me for being a dumbarse but what is a PCBU?

    August 14, 2020 at 12:43 pm

    • Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking. You’re only liable under the Health and Safety at Work Act if you’re a PCBU.

  6. I suppose it would be too much to ask that someone establishes that such a failure occurred before moving on to prosecutions?

    • Who needs proof when you’ve got the Internet?

I think Abraham Lincoln said that first.

  7. Speaking of questions, Collins may be my preferred choice as PM ahead of Ardern and Kim Hill may not rate highly in my estimation (although that train wreck of an interview John Pilger some 10 to 15 years ago was bloody amusing)

…but I rather thought Collins came up very short when trying to dismiss/avoid/sidestep/obfuscate questions concerning Gerry Brownlee’s crap attempts to disingenuously fan the flames of conspiracy, dissembling and denials to the contrary:
