some among us still downplay Covid-19/20 as nothing more than a bad case of the flu.

Could I suggest that telling that to the people of India, Brazil, Canada, Germany et al and you might need PPE to guard yourselves against being tarred and feathered.

Some muvvers do have em.

  1. By definition, that’s exactly what it is though: A very bad case of the flu perhaps is more accurate.

  2. Or, instead of believing the hype you have a look at the stats. What you are seeing in India is a poorly equipped health system overwhelmed. It is still running the same stats as far as cases to deaths go.

Now why would the media overhype something like that?

A more pertinent question is why is this wave so bad when India is much further ahead of us with vaccine roll out?

  3. Is there any point to this entirely fact free post other than to sneer at those who do not tug their forelocks and submit to the official narrative surrounding the Great Covid-19 Panic but challenge it

Let me give you a fact, the Indian sub Continent faces many significant public health issues – one of which is Tuberculosis, a highly debilitating disease which kills about twice as many people there each and every year as Coronavirus allegedly has during this outbreak of mass foolishness. Another big killer in India is Cholera which about matches the number of so called corona virus deaths yearly – the big distinction between cororona virus and these other two nasties is that its victims are almost exclusively elderly and infirm while it is the young who are nailed by the other two – cholera in particular is very hard on children who are barely impacted by Covid-19

The really sad thing is if you were to take e the money New Zealand has frittered away trying to control Covid-19, We could probably eliminate Cholera in Kolkata where it is endemic – we have the technology to do it and have had it for 170 years but not the will,

Two of my kids have now returned positive tests for the dreaded Covid-19 and neither of them had any symptoms what so ever and that is not unusual, this is true for about 50% of those who return positive tests, with the majority of the remainder, such as Glenn Reynolds and his family being only minorly inconvenienced by the disease. But there you go, not having to worry over Tuberculosis, typhoid, cholera, bubonic plague and so forth all we are left with to fret over is the common cold on its latest incarnation

And for BIG GOVERNMENT control; freaks this panic is a wet dream, providing cover for curtailing the freedom of movement and association for the great unwashed all in the name of public safety

I haven’t had physical contact with any of my kids in three years now and suspect I never will again and that they wll attend my funeral by video link

  4. Vet suggest you look at this link.

Fatality by major virus outbreaks in the world last 50 years.

Shows clearly the status of Covid as a minor issue

    • No point, Rossco, as you don’t understand anything other then the picture.

On the surface, Marburg was worse with a higher death rate, HOWEVER, the infections were confined to just a handful of countries, not globally.

The Hendra virus also looks scary, until you uncover the fact, fact, rossco, fact, that a grand total of 4 humans died from it. Most of the victims were horses, along with a couple of dogs.

      April 25, 2021 at 12:07 pm

  5. Loin Chop the sample size doesnt matter too much its the death rate.

Ebola doesnt have a huge sample size but we all know that if it got out of the Congo its lethal to humans.

Nobody but nobody counted the standard flu as a Pandemic yet it is prevalent everywhere and a killer too.

I suspect if you took out all the misreporting and mis-classification in a lot of countries the death rate would drop.

After all if you are aged 1 – 60 the chances of dying are very very low.

    April 25, 2021 at 3:04 pm

    • Sample size matters when the sample is small. As in Hendra, a virus that didn’t even make its way outside Brisbane.

After all if you are aged 1 – 60 the chances of dying are very very low.

Death is not the only ill effect of C19, as you would know if you looked beyond the headlines on Onanism Network. There is long term damage to organs, damage that will restrict quality of life and reduce life expectancy for those between 1 – 60 who contract the virus.

      Sir Loin

      April 25, 2021 at 4:32 pm

  6. Bullshit on the life expectancy 1-60 . Depends on your co morbidity.

    Try obese
Try Diabetes type 1 and 2
    Try smoking
    Try Car injuries
    Try too much alcohol
    Try broken collar bone
    Try too much culture

Loin… get the picture.. everything in life can affect your life expectancy.

For someone like you, its the other big Lie…Climate Change. Did you enjoy the coldest winter in France for 50 years. Bet you that killed a helluva lot more people than Covid in France.

It certainly wiped out their grape crop, 80-90% gone.

My advice to you, live life, embrace it, its a lot more fun than being a frightened little mouse and a victim of twats who want to control you.

    • Rossco, it is quite clear you have eyes and a brain. It is also quite clear it will be many, many years before you figure out how to use them.

  7. Hmmmm … did this as a wind-up and ‘they’ bit with a rather predictable focus on India’s health system. But what about Canada, France and Germany … are you seriously suggesting their health system are third world.

Look guys … NZ and Aust are lucky Islands surrounded by water with our respective governments getting it about 80% right. Sure they made (and are making) mistakes but those pale in insignificance when you look at the rest of the world.

You can certainly debate climate change where there’s evidence that the doomsayers have overstated their case but there are not too many in the medical profession (quacks excepted) who would go along with the Andrei’s of this world.

  8. But what about Canada, France and Germany … are you seriously suggesting their health system are third world.

No perhaps I am suggesting that they are ruled by mediocrioties who were panicked by by a hysterical media and now don’t know how to get out of the mess they have created and still save face.

FFS Veteran everybdy dies. Every effing day 900 or so people die in Canada. You can pick out some feature a subset of these people have in common and suggest that feature is responsible for their death and convince the innumerate that this is so

The reality is that as we get older the systems that run our bodies start to malfunction, and that includes the immune system. It is very common in elderly people for a viral infection to develop into pneumonia that is ultimately fatal – you can look through the mortality statistics of any country you care to name going back decades and see the prevalance of pneumonia, though how individual doctor fill out death cerificates is idiosyncratic so this exercise is not totally robust, However it is clear pneumonia plays some role in a substantial proportion of all deaths

Now by highlighting deaths where pneumonia has been present, drawing the publics attention to it you can engender an irrational panic, particularly if you omit the age and commordities of those who have succumbed

The dynamics of this are fascinating as the voices of hysteria drown out the voices of reason and various commercial enterprises seek opportunities for profit

but there are not too many in the medical profession (quacks excepted) who would go along with the Andrei’s of this world.

Are you sure about that? Maybe it is not career enhancing to be too vocal in critiquing the current cultural zeitgeist. Most people take the path of least resistance and quietly “go along to get along”

That is why things like the Salam witchcraft trials can occur – you don’t really believe that human nature is any different today than it was in 17th century Massachusetts? If you do I hate to disillusion you. – superstition expressed in the language of puritanism is little different from superstition expressed in political correctness using the language of science

    • Paranormal, did it not occur to you We’re not seeing shock horror coverage in the media of Canada, France and Germany’s health systems in collapse because their socialised health care is robust enough to cope? That unlike India they have a plentiful supply of Oxygen? That they have functioning governments that can plan?

      No, it probably didn’t.

      Sir Loin

      April 26, 2021 at 7:42 pm

  9. Loin Chop did it every occur to you that we’re not seeing shock horror coverage because there aint none to be seen.

Its nothing to do with socialisation of their health systems, its to do with bullshit.

The death rate among the largest segment of the population age 1-60 is simply a very small number. Go and look at for Italy at death by age.

I know that Tom has let you back , good on him but you are a dumb cunt. As Einstein said, repeating the same action over and over and expecting a different outcome is a sign of true dumbness!

You are going to end up side-lined in the weeds again.

Remember the USA 6 months ago, oh baby it was going to the dogs with 350,000 cases per day, not even mentioned by the media anymore.

Christ man you are thick, lets just run through all your predictions under your various “nom de dumbness”

Greta would be Queen of the UK
Climate Change will kill us all (certainly the cold will)
    Green energy
    Donald Trump
    Biden hero of the World
Covid will wipe out the world
EU is the future, now falling apart
China are a nice bunch of people

Mate, really, reading the Daily Telegraph has turned your brains to sheet.

I really have to wonder if you are the 6th agent from the days of Burgess, McLean and that art poof whose name I forget?

I suspect your misspent youth was in East Germany along with Herr Merkel is the cause of your delusions!

    • You would appear to have moi confused with a breakfast dish, rather than Luncheon.

As I said elsewhere, you are obviously in possession of eyes and brain, but incapable of operating them, rather like a Roomba when the battery goes flat.

      Sir Loin

      April 26, 2021 at 9:19 pm

  10. Andrei … your position on Covid reminds me of the doting mother watching her son march past on his graduation parade … look, our Williams the only one in step.

    April 27, 2021 at 11:29 am

    • And your position on Covid reminds me of a toddler who sticks his fingerts in his ears and says nya nya nya can’t hear you

Why the insults, why don’t you debate the issue on the real world data as I do?

      April 28, 2021 at 5:42 am

  11. Sir Loin, did it not occur to you to compare the graphs?

So we have a third world collapsing health system giving a similar death rate to your idealistic robust socialised health systems.

    How can that be?
