The revelation here at https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/125180968 that the Government abandoned moves to protect the Waikato DHB (and others) from cyber attacks citing budget constraints. The result … Waikato Hospital paralysed.
And further that key parts of the Government’s cybersecurity strategy have not been implemented two years after the strategy document was published. Promised actions included an action plan and an annual report. The minister responsible for the cybersecurity strategy, Kris Faafoi, left the role in November last year. His successor, David Clark, admits no annual cybersecurity report from the 2019 strategy document was ever produced. However, he promises a report will be produced for the 2022 financial year.
Promises by Clark, who resigned his Health portfolio, hardly engender confidence.
What a cock-up. New Zealand, the way you’ve got it.
They needed the money to buy off the clueless media. Even the Soviets had more brains and class than this gang.
Interesting but entirely unsurprising for this government. They’ve reached the stage of “meh” and I can’t help thinking that they’ve become so useless that they’re weirdly insulated by it; nobody expects any better of them.
Does make you wonder what we’ve got a GCSB for, although I’m aware that they do plenty of advisory work with private sector NZ companies.
Tom … assisted by a compliant news media. Right now and if Jacinda’s chauffeur driven car drove onto the footpath and knocked over a pedestrian the msm would have it that the pedestrian was jaywalking.
Vet
And it only cost $100 mil.
I think they’d do it for free.
So, $3B for the PGF to allow Shane Jones to buy Northland … fail … and zip, zero nothing to protect DHBs and the like from the cyber attack that occurred earlier this month … double fail. But will the media pick up on this and is the Pope a Protestant.
