I see the media keep referring to Winston Peters as the leader of NZ First. How can that possibly be?
Go to their constitution. Clause 46.1 … ‘The Party shall have a Leader and a Deputy Leader selected by the Parliamentary Division’. Now go to clause 47.1 … ‘The Parliamentary Division is the members of the Party elected to the House of Representatives’.
As there is no Parliamentary Division it follows there can be no leader. Hoist by their own petard methinks. So, in the absence of a leader who gets to speak for the Party … the President – the newly elected Julian nobody? Nah. never happen. It’s Winston and bugger the constitution.
For NZ First and WRP rules are to be observed in the breech. It’s the problem you get when you’re a cult rather than a Party.
No Minister 
It depends on your interpretation. One way of interpreting it is that having been selected by the Parliamentary Division, Winston and Fletch now cannot be removed until NZ First is re-elected to Parliament at some point. Front seat on the gravy train for life. All aboard. Chooo, choooo 🙂
I think yours is the only logical conclusion.

To whom it may concern I, as an interested observer but non member, hereby move that the name of the so called Political Party New Zealand First be changed forthwith to Winston First.
Problem solved as soon as my motion is passed and approved by Winston – which as always is the same thing anyway.
