No Minister

THAT’S NICE,

So really really nice, one sixty something United Nations WHO functionary, one of thousands infected in Fiji’s still unfolding disaster as the Rona Delta variant spreads like a California Wildfire in the South Pacific paradise, in a no way similar to the thousands suffering the worst of it, the unnamed special person is medevaced to Middlemore Hospital in a stunning reversal of the three Auckland District Health Boards insisting up until last evening it was not going to happen on the grounds of lack of capacity.

What changed? quite simple really, one time Prime Minister now re-employed as a Puppeteer extraordinaire in formulating the remarkable embedding of much of what she was constrained from imposing during her Nine Years, now a runaway train carrying her once racially peaceful economic capable nation to an abyss, actually got Health, immigration and emergency services into a military mode and it suddenly just happened.

Of course as pointed out with alacrity this morning as the Friday News agenda unfolded according to the well planned cooperation between the Media and their fellows in the Labour propaganda department, all at NO COST to New Zealand! Utter bull manure to that, where exactly does the UN parasitic outfit get its funding from, taxpayers around the world of course.

The total arrogance of those currently blundering around on behalf of the ordinary people while totally focussed on taking every advantage one party rule affords them rolls on and if polling is anywhere near the reallity then they will have another three years to make the once very bright future for this island nation a very bleak future indeed.

“Open and transparent”, if ever to be recorded by someone without blinkers will be up there as the corruption of the entire New Zealand history after its liberation from the cannibal waring tribalism, delivered by Hobson nearly two centuries ago.

One fervently hopes that a future Fijian Government never takes revenge for that assault perpetrated overnight by a government I am ashamed to be ruled by. As a nation we could have done so much more in their hours of need than “save” one older UN functionary, about whom we will never be allowed to know what exactly was the imperitives that made that extraction suddenly so right.

  4. What assault perpetrated last night on the Fijian government? Ridiculous over the top assertion. Why on earth would the Fijian government be offended because a senior WHO official was transferred to NZ?

There are many things you can be critical about the NZ government, but this is not one of them.

    • Wayne try and think of some reasons why they might be offended? Hers a couple to go on with

The inference is that their medical treatment facilities are 3rd world?
The inference is that their medical staff, doctors ,nurses, and surgeons are 3rd world?
The inference is that Fiji may not be able to handle the worlds biggest pandemic since the dawn of time? ( I made that up)
The inference is that by NZ taking this action NZ has underlined the drama that is playing out in the Covid space (Panic, fear, loss of reason, drama, over hype, lockdowns, loss of political rights.)

But what does rational man say having looked at the stats for Fiji on Covid.

Given the high infection rate , the high survival rate, and the low death rate they are going to make NZ, and those WHO /UN bureaucrats look real bad.

Look what we did to save the life of someone important, well someone important in their own mind.

Better to create more drama….. dont you think Wayne?

Opops sorry Wayne you dont think, you follow anything that is spoon fed to you.

  5. Vet I would stand up there and proclaim because my voice like Andrei’s would be based on reason.

As for Fiji being an island paradise, I would dispute your call on that, and I have been there a few times myself.

So you and the readers can perhaps calm your fears, here are the official stats on Fiji

    27,500 Covid infections
    227 deaths

Thats point 8 of a percent.

The annual death rate in Fiji is about 7500.

    Running amuck….. hardly

Surprised that you are so easliy swayed by fear Vet but I guess you are indicative of what is happening in a lot of the world. Fear supplants reason.

    • Rossco,

Third world countries tend to have third world medical facilities. Fiji might be a little upset (or they might not be). But they are not going to “retaliate” for something of this nature.

Think of the numbers of New Zealanders who go to the US for specialist medical treatment.

It is hardly unusual for international officials to ship out of a country for better medical treatment.

As I said there are many things to complain about but this is hardly one of them.

As for the death rate, the normal daily death rate is 20 (going by the 7,500 per year). So 227 from Covid in about a 4 week period is a big deal. There are many reports the real rate is substantially higher as people can’t get into hospitals.

    • Wayne,
That may or may not be the case viz the UN official.

In that case they should have shipped out to the US for as you rightly point out NZ medical systems are barely 1st world despite the MOH staff numbers increasing by 42% over the current term of the Govt.

Just look at your beloved Mental Health as well. It must pain you deeply to see what this Govt has done to that.

As for reported deaths you maybe right but if you look at the world stats we all know cause of death by Covid has been exaggerated, and this maybe the case as well in Fiji.

Its not the Island Paradise that Vet makes out, there is poverdy (note spelling, a state not dissimilar to poverty as we know it), there is a whole range of tropical diseases including malaria, that weaken the immune system. Poor housing, poor sanitation are just a few more that spring to mind.

I hope they become the Sweden of the South Pacific, and herd immunity comes naturally. It could save many more from the promised nirvana of the double jab.

As for the death rate and infection rate, all pandemics whether imaginary or real follow a natural path which is well documented on the official Covid sites and others such as Statista.com. Nothing new there.

The common flu follows the same trajectory, the same death rate curve, which mimics Covid.

While Covid is not the common flu it is not that far off.

    • As for the death rate, the normal daily death rate is 20 (going by the 7,500 per year). So 227 from Covid in about a 4 week period is a big deal.

      Is it Wayne?

Firstly the number of deaths that occur in any nation are not evenly distributed throughout the year – in temperate countries the death rate is higher in Winter than in Summer (a lot of this is due to the fact that incidence of respiratory viruses flourish in the colder months and decline during the warmer ones)

I don’t know about Fiji which is more tropical and less seasonal, though in some countries there is a wet season where diseases tend to flourish and death rates go up

But anyway if deaths are in fact evenly distributed throughout the year in Fiji and using the 7500 figure for the annual death rate the expected number over a four week interval would be about 580 people.

Those of us who are awake and who have followed this pandemic™ closely are aware that the majority of the “victims” of this virus are in fact people in the terminal phase of their life to start with

The narrative surrounding this pandemic™ is in fact built around an artifact of measurement.

Covid-19 is only distinguishable from other corona viruses because we have the PCR techniques to map genetic markers that are unique to this particular family of viruses. The deaths of virtually all if not all these 227 people would be neither be surprising nor unexpected on their own – it is positive results from the PCR test that gives them a value in promoting the narrative

I expect this will go right over the tippity top of your head though

There are many reports the real rate is substantially higher as people can’t get into hospitals.

This is called anecdotal evidence, a claim pulled out of thin air used to support a political position, perhaps, but not a scientific one

  6. Rossco … sorry to rain on your parade and stop making things up. Fiji is NOT an island paradise, far from it. Disregard Denarau and the like and you a country with a population well below that of Auckland with real ethnic tensions and pockets of extreme poverty and a autocratic government who right now are arresting opposition politicians (including 6 MPs and two former Prime Ministers) agitating against against proposals to amend legislation governing native land which they claim with will disadvantage land owners.

Add into the equation over 1,000 Covid infections yesterday and a further 9 deaths; morgues overflowing and a hospital system at near total collapse and you are prepared to stand in Ratu Sukuna Park and tell them that Covid is not far off the common flu (your words). Well good luck with that fella and mind the tar and feathers. Reminds me of the old joke concerning a military passing out parade … look at our Johnny … he’s the only one in step.

    • Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear,

Another histrionic post from the Veteran, complete with his recycled allusions to “Ratu Sukuna Park” along with “tar and feathers” first deployed against me higher on the thread though I had yet to comment upon it.

But while long on hyperbole the comment itself is short on facts and when it comes to real world numbers highly inaccurate starting with the “a country with a population smaller than Dunedin” claim.

In fact Fiji’s estimated population asof today is 903,000 (slightly less than that of the South Island )

The median age of Fijians is 27.9 years (so somewhat lower than NZs 37.1 years)

The life expectancy of Fijians is 67.34 years (compared to New Zealand’s 81.86 years)

And the death rate in Fiji is 8.3 per 1,000 people compared with New Zealand’s 7.1 per 1,000 people

Another thing I learned about Fiji on my brief exploration of its demographics was that it is a Nation that has a significant public health issue regarding Tuberculosis – I was not surprised to find this

No Sir, not surprised at all. For while we are busy tearing our hair out over every geriatric who succumbs after returning a positive PCR result for the dread COVID Tuberculosis remains a scourge in the poorer parts of the world.

Its sad really if we were to put all the energy and resources that we have expended on COVID into beating Tuberculosis in Fiji it would be one less thing they would have to worry about because it is beatable and well worth defeating

  7. Wayne you are clearly suffering from a similar condition to Stockholm syndrome and your old mate Bolger is infected to a greater degree than you. The real people never exposed to the artificial world that is Parliament, see politicians and ex polies in a very different light and it is rarely forgiving.
The point of my post was around the highly selective and extremely advantageous treatment afforded the WHO 63 year old while thousands are forced to endure a far lesser degree of response. All the whitewash in your garage will never obliterate that.
Ps The clear change from Ardern, following an apparent intervention from H Clark, sort of reinforces the above case, no surprises then another ex politician how about that?

  8. Andrei … Dunedin out, Auckland in … my mistake. As for the rest and you’re reduced to running interference citing TB as the islands killer. So once again you stand with JLR, Billy T and Rossco to proclaim that Covid is nothing more than a good dose of the flu. Your arrogance in arguing you know more than 99.9% of the medical profession is breathtaking. Ok, I accept you won’t be getting vaccinated along with some Jehovah Witnesses and the like … your choice in a free society.

      Here is the exact quote

Another thing I learned about Fiji on my brief exploration of its demographics was that it is a Nation that has a significant public health issue regarding Tuberculosis

Which is not citing tuberculosis “as the Islands major killer”

Your arrogance in arguing you know more than 99.9% of the medical profession is breathtaking
