No Minister

KIWIKAITOA

Maybe an abortion for what some are entertaining as an answer to the supermarket duopoly but my limited Maori words and the idiot suggestion that Kiwigrocer could find a place in the growing list of socialist failures in Government involving in markets where their very presence via RMA, Commerce Commission, Overseas investment barriers and even simple immigration conniptions all conspire to allow any actual answer to the market dominance and price manipulations of Foodstuffs and Countdown the grocer of Woolworths NZ itself a subsidiary of Woolworths Australia to ever bear fruit.

Eric Crampton has a far better essay on the problem

ps apologies for the attempt at wokeism above but that is how the current idjits will attempt to present any incursion into retail grocery to the sheeple and it will go he way of all tthe other KIWI implosions.

  1. I don’t know what all the fuss is about GD.

Western Australia, with half the population of NZ, has Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, Spudshed and any number of independent operators. Politicians and other useless do-gooders should bugger off and let the market sort it out. The mere threat of competition puts a stop to price gouging.

  2. Have a look at Cramptons analysis, adolf, he explains exactly why Aldi and Co will not attempt an entry for now, not only do CD and Foodstuffs tie each other up for years using the RMA but sites they have moved on from carry restraints preventing those sites once deemed accommodating, from a new entry buying to set up in. The NZ Duopoly is well established for their mutual benefit

    • Old thinking GD. More and more people are buying groceries on line. It will take just one smart operator to set up in Auckland with home delivery – servicing Hamilton and Whangarei as well.
