Former Labour Party MP Raymond Huo never got as much attention for his links to China as did his National counterpart, Jian Yang.
Naturally, given the state of NZ’s MSM, the focus, where it happened at all, was on the dreaded National Party potentially selling out to China.
Labour never gets those accusations or implications in public forums outside of blogs.

He quit the Labour Party before the 2020 election, in a rumoured deal between Jacinda Adern and National’s then leader, Todd Muller, that saw Yang leave National also (“A Glorious New Dawn Has Broken Over Our Harmonious Society”).

While are the Western Nations are frittering away the legacy left by their forebears fretting over the rights of transgender whales and the effects of bovine flatulence on the polar ice caps the Chinese are teaching their children all about catenary curves, the art of soldering and a plethora of other highly useful things worth knowing
Oh and BTW, just because I see this happening and call it like it is does not mean that I am happy about it but what can I do?
In our so called Democracy their is a choice between absolute wackos and the so called “mainstream” parties who are virtually indistinguishable and notable only for the mediocrity of the candidates they put up whose major talent is fence sitting on the issues that really matter

Thanks for picking this up. I couldn’t believe it when I first saw it. I think it is an absolute disgrace that both parties would support MPs whose first allegiance is obviously to the mother country.
But then again, as one of the Kiwiblog respondents noted yesterday….meh. Something about bread and circuses comes to mind.

The CCP are very adept at elite capture. They do it with prominent political figures on the “right” with money, and those on the “left” thru ideology AND money. Those political figures then become stooges of the CCP. Donald Thomas Brash is a good example.
Whatever….Don Brash is an amateur when it comes to Xi-fellating.

The most galling thing about this how Huo, as Chair of the parliamentary Justice Select Committee, declined Dr Anne-Marie Brady’s request to testify at a Parliamentary justice committee to examine potential foreign interference in 2019.
Both the gnats and Labour knew of his clear conflicts and let it slide (…..and what coercion was involved in him being nominated for that committee, let alone the chair). Bunch of sell-out fuckers all of them.
