No Minister

When the illusion shatters

A couple of years ago I decided to visit Melbourne since I had old NZ friends living there and I had never been to the place.

I’d heard all the jokes about The People’s Republic of Melbourne and so forth, and certainly my Lefty friends have loved living there since they fit in so well, with their tiny houses just 10 minutes tram ride from the Queen Victoria Market.

A week exploring the downtown area showed me what else they liked about it, especially all the hundreds of wonderful little shops crammed into the old, narrow alleyways, the so-called Laneways.

A guided tour of the area informed me that these were quite recent, the result of a deliberate government effort to entice people into these places that just three decades ago had been the empty, wind-blown, rat-infested dumps they are in other cities.

I liked the city far more than Sydney, which I’ve visited many times, even if the waterfront is not as spectacular and the winters harsher.

But given what’s been going on there and in the surrounding state of Victoria in response to the dreaded Covid, I doubt I’ll be going back anytime soon. The lockdowns and restrictions on civil liberties have been at East German levels, have lasted for months, and have not stopped the disease running its course. It also appears the locals may finally have had enough of the government they elected, including the local Stasi. There have been protests before but the Stasi had managed to keep them contained.

The comments from the sidelines are priceless. More here at this link. BTW, the 70 year old woman who got shoved over by the cops has a broken hip and concussion. The real criminals of Melbourne must be loving this as they find more and more people everyday who will despise the cops as much as they do.

From the comments:

Dan Andrew tricked us, we kept our end of the deal 70 percent double vaxxed and where are we now, same place we were 2 years ago, except we have 400x fold of daily cases, martial law, house arrest, and a tier of society excluded indefinitely, this is not what we signed up for.

Oh bullshit. This is exactly what you signed up for. You voted in a nasty little control freak Lefty, and you were happy to have a “right-wing” opposition that’s little different, as NSW shows.

UPDATE:

Wow, the head of the CFME Union (Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy) got absolutely bolloxed today by his own members, this one over a vaccine mandate it seems.

“I’ve done jail for this union. I’ve stood on picket lines for this union,… We have tried to keep CFMEU working since April last year… I did not mandate vaccinations.”

The didn’t care and he ends up getting forced back inside the CFME building.

  1. Yup. Once the left get power they bloody well use it.
They don’t care yet they pass themselves off as the compassionate ones.
It’s the same here in NZ.
Our voting females need to get a grip and realise that Cindy doesn’t give a rat’s arse about compassion.
Those choppers of hers are really fangs. She doesn’t care and also takes no responsibility for her actions, passing those off to unelected health authorities.
Cindy’s female support is going to make New Zealand New Zimbabwe.

  2. And amid all this grimness the police are on the case in Auckland and have detected the crime of the century

Police arrest gang associates with over $100,000 cash and boot-full of KFC

A Police spokesperson said a patrol of back roads near Auckland’s southern boundary on Sunday led to the arrest of two gang associates who were trying to get into Auckland with over $100,000 in cash and and a car boot-full of KFC.

Officers noticed the suspicious looking vehicle travelling on a gravel road. After the car noticed the Police vehicle, the drivers did a u-turn and sped off trying to evade police.

The vehicle eventually pulled over and Police established they had come from Hamilton and were trying to get to Auckland.

“The vehicle was searched and Police located the cash, alongside empty ounce bags and a large amount of takeaways,” the police spokesperson said.

Both men, aged 23 and 30, were summonsed to appear in court at a later date for breaching the Health Order and further charges are likely.

  3. he trouble is with those Australians is that although they are ready for what it takes, unlike weakling New Zealanders; they are not organised properly. They are too far apart and need to be in three groups.:: front and two flanks. Fourth group for diversion and other ..Also they need to dress more protectively.. I’ve said elsewhere; it will only take one piece of action where a European man saves a Maori with a hole in him and we will be brothers again>> her disgusting communism and her disgusting apartheid will be gone for another life time.

  4. Oh dear. Setka didn’t take too kindly to being called a scab by his own members ! That’s often the problem with union leadership – They are often a light year apart from the thinking of most of the members. When I was on the shop floor it was about getting better wages and conditions but always mindful of not killing the golden goose. The union leadership was all about class struggle, eat the rich and various other communist lunacy.
