No Minister

Three Waters: Christchurch City Council’s rejection means nothing

Because the fascists in charge of this country will legislate and steal councils assets regardless, even if 98% of councils do not agree with the reforms.

So don’t get too excited.

National MP Barbara Kuriger asked Mahuta in Parliament if she would consider pausing the reforms given Local Government NZ and some mayors, councils, and communities have called for her to do so.

“No,” Mahuta responded.

  1. To be fair, that wasn’t her complete response. I get the impression that there are a lot of issues and details to be worked through and effective gifting of assets will not be part of the final arrangement, hopefully.

    • Fredonas you are a brave man to believe anything you hear or read from Mahuta. Add in Willie Jackson is pushing her along and there are big concerns.

    • Agreed. I am beyond appalled at the prospect of wholesale theft of assets and ongoing extortion of ratepayers to benefit an elite minority. I just hope there will be enough pushback and negative polling that it will not be an option politically and a sensible compromise will be implemented. Time will tell.

  2. The maori caucus has the Labour govt by the balls

    • Most of them don’t have balls and I suspect a portion of the few left that do want to become like Laurel Hubbard.

  3. That will be fake news, there is no one with balls in NZLP Kloyd0306, H1 took the formalin and jar with her when she left and the possession of testicles is verboten. However the groping while searching is still well established as Pardy policy.

  4. Of course they will do as they are told by Mahuta.
In addition it is only about the amount of money the Government will give to the Councils which is why Auckland and Christchurch are saying no – for now.
After all it is only borrowed money adding to the amount to pay by those who pay tax.

  5. Our local Council unanimously voted no. Many others have done the same. I think only a few have voted yes. The government will be buying a fight to proceed with that opposition. Have they the ability to steamroll it through knowing it will lose them a lot of votes. I doubt it. Even if they want to try, I suspect there will be major court cases financed by the major Councils. That will tie the process right up
