ON VACCINE MANDATES … THE UNTOLD STORY

with 13 comments

I suspect the vast majority of people are comfortable with front-line medical professionals being subject to a vaccine mandate. But there is an untold story which is being glossed over. As of Tuesday 1028 medical professionals had been stood down; 92 had resigned and 341 have had the employment terminated. Included in those totals were 52 doctors, 518 nurses and 90 midwives. Up here in the Far North I am reliably informed that the Northland DHB has had to let go 106 staff. In Kaitaia the hospital is no longer performing elective surgery.

Clearly there is a price to be paid for enforcing the vaccine mandate including the law of unintended consequences which could see the now fractured team of 5 million now having to live with a reduced level of medical care … and we won’t even talk about the new highly transmissible Omicron variant with scientists unsure the level of protection afforded by current vaccines.

But clearly this has the potential to wind back the clock to where we were at the end of March last year.

  1. Chuckle. Funny how, following the story from a couple of weeks ago about 17% of cops not having had even one jab yet, we still haven’t heard anything from the government as to how they’re going to deal with that.

I also laughed at this comment over at Kiwiblog from someone who has to watch this stuff…:

The traffic light alert levels have been quietly and subtly changed. Yesterday on the radio at 1pm I heard a reporter say under the red level the number of unvaccinated people allowed has been raised from 10 to 25… However the Government’s Covid page now says 25 people. It definitely used to say 10 – because this is of particular interest to me with activities I organise for my youth group so I took notice of it. Scroll down to the bottom to see the red unvaccinated rules… If you look at the latest updates page on that website, there is no mention of this change. It has been done VERY quietly.

Probably some new science has come to light.

  2. `But clearly this has the potential to wind back the clock to where we were at the end of March last year.’

There is nothing Jacinda and her lot would like more than the above Vet.

This having to let New Zealanders mix and mingle, travel around the country and in due course go on trips overseas must be giving her `the guts ache’ for want of a better phrase.

Control, control, control is the name of their game.

  3. When the odium of truth quoted OOD (order of the day) that exemptions from mandates were to be very rare, that set alarm bells ringing. There are many who are just unable to risk any chance of an adverse reaction from historical well established reasons and the very recent information around Cardiac problems will only lengthen that list. I well remember the very scary incident not long into marriage when we were living very isolated and my allergy to aspirin sent me into anaphylaxis with a very compromised ability to draw breath. No air ambulance or rescue chopper and nearest ambulance some 40 miles distant.
It is almost as if there is a driver to have zero controls available for the largest mass medication in history.

  4. I have two daughters who are qualified nurses working in hospitals overseas, I don’t want say too much because they might be easily identifiable and in these troubled times that might have consequences

One is highly opposed to vaccines, had COVID last year pre vaccine but was still compelled to be vaccinated.

At her hospital the initial resistance to the vaccine was close to forty percent but they slowly were ground down, this daughter was one of the last hold outs and will require a booster early in the New year.

A large number of Staff at her hospital quit – she is not in a position to quit, she explored that option before submitting

Second daughter happy to be vaccinated, if that is that it takes to get along she will go along, that’s her attitude

Not that it was any good, despite being vaccinated the dreaded delta got her and her best friend, a work colleague who also went along to get along, and another

Is it any surprise we are now hearing of the dread Omicron as we work our way through the Greek Alphabet?

Of course not, this was predictable as the sun rising in the East the virus can mutate far faster than anybody can come up with counter measures and will do so in entirely unpredictable ways

On the other hand we are endowed with an immune system honed through millions of years of evolution to deal with these things which can rapidly adapt to new “variants” particularly if they are not too different from variants we have encountered before.

Perhaps forcing the virus to rapidly evolve is going to be a major part of what is turning out to be a very costly medical mistake

  5. “… and we won’t even talk about the new highly transmissible Omicron variant with scientists unsure the level of protection afforded by current vaccines”

The 32 yo woman who brought it into Israel was triple “vaccinated” so there’s the answer right there.

  6. Been going to a friends pre Xmas party and his birthday for 25 years.

This years invite has ” Only Vacinated may Attend”

That is the end of that “friendship”. The wording didnt help, more fool them

In UK and Germany statically the biggest spreaders and catchers of Covid are of course the vaccinated. Makes perfect logical sense.

Like a lotta things in life you find out who your true friends are.

And in a study out of Germany published in the Lancet

“For example, 89,821 of 100,160 (89.7%) COVID cases (age 60+) were in UK residents who were fully vaccinated from weeks 39 to 42 (October). Just 3.4% (3,395) of the new cases were in the unvaccinated 60 and older.”

On a lighter note I realise I must have presence and gravitas that I never knew i Had.

    Also bigger balls too !!

    Hows this?

I strolled through no less that 3 layers of security at Auckland airport without being challenged for not wearing a mask.

A little girl at the bag scanning station said ” Look Dad theres a man not wearing a mask” Dad said ” Sweetie he has an exemption” Which of course I do but I wasnt wearing my large Yellow Star.

OK so I’m a business owner and Managing Director and have a “presence” but that was 12 “blackshirts” who didnt challenge me.

I always put it on in the plane but let it slip down over my nose so that the trolly dollies have to keep telling me to pull it up. You quickly find out who of them have the fascist tendencies.

Interesting human psychology of just having confidence in yourself so that others dont……

  7. “new highly transmissible Omicron variant” Are you believing the mainstream media again, Vet?

And saying the vast majority of people are comfortable with vaccine mandates – have you asked them?

    Harry

    • Veteran is like those lonely men who fall for a gorgeous woman over the internet (who in reality isn’t a blonde Ukrainian bombshell but a seedy con man) who promises to marry them and then ask for money to get a visa and then more money for this paper work and that

These sad creatures will not be told they are being scammed and remained convinced in the course of true love until their bank account is empty when suddenly the blonde bombshell becomes uncontactable and they have nothing left.

The vaccine is the magic panacea that will return us back to life as it was in 2019 but only if everyone without exception accepts the next jab

      And the one after that…

      And the one after that…

And there will always be a new even more deadly variant to keep us in line

Meanwhile the country is going bankrupt and other health issues are going unaddressed

    • Thank you Dr (epidemiologist) Harry for you expert advice that the Omicron variant ain’t nothing to be worried about.

And I didn’t say that the vast majority of people are comfortable with vaccine mandates. My reference was to medical professionals only and with the caveat that with the mandate comes consequences which I outlined.

Let me say this s l o w l y so even you might understand. I am opposed to the extension of vaccine mandates past that of front line medical professionals and front line border workers.

  8. Thanks Vet for highlighting those brave people. I salute them! Its more than I would be prepared to do but on the other hand I own my own business so I dont have to make that decision.

However like them I fight when and where ever I can.

My staff are well aware that vaccination is their business and nobody else’s. They don’t have to report it to me. Wearing masks is optional and personal choice as well. All of them dont wear masks

We interface the public in a number of areas, in the showroom we carry a mask then ask the customers who come in wearing one that it is optional. Our informal survey indicates 98% strip them off with utter relief.

We interface the customer at their home. Again 98% or more are not wearing them when my guys arrive, and then my guys ask them about the issue, and the answer is …not required.

Obviously we practice the practical…. social distancing and hand washing.

Meanwhile my best mate in Auckland deeply regrets folding, and getting the vaccine. Says repeatedly if he had his time again he would not have done it.

Clearly Vet has evolved his position since 18 months ago and his dismissal of Andre and myself, and others, as nutters. That is good to see. Perhaps he’s realising that is beloved National Party is a hollow shell, for most parts.

Still as those medical people proved being different isnt easy , especially in an eroded democracy.

For myself with a better, harder degree than most, being well read in history, with a family legacy of “the fighting Irish, and Scots” in WW1 and WW2 I’m not stepping away. I’d be ashamed to dishonour my forebears!

Democracy was hard won, its easily surrendered. And I include the Auckland Branch of the National Party in that surrender!

At University I despised the Grant Robinsons and the Jacinda Adern’s of my day. Lazy, disassociated, uneducated, and tied up in a failed ideology. Not only did I despise them, I laughed at them.

A Corporal from Austria was treated the same way, he rose to create mayhem.

Mayhem is upon us, so is stupidity, but the latter comes from the failed university radicals.

The new younger generation are going to learn that lesson to their cost.!!!

    • Last week Rossco, legislation which can only be described as Fascist was passed in Parliament without any debate or public discussion and became law without any fanfare

And how did the then leader of Her Majesty’s Loyal opposition choose to spend her time?

Why by dragging up and making a really big deal about an allegedly unseemly comment made by a member of her own party five years ago…

Who speaks for us? Who has our back?

Not the National Party of New Zealand that is for sure, a bigger waste of space in Parliament is hard to imagine than the current National Party Caucus

This probably is the lowest point in New Zealand Parliamentary Politics of all time

      Andrei

      November 27, 2021 at 6:47 pm

    • Andre, would not disagree with anything in your analysis of the once proud National Party.

But where is the Ben Shapiro of NZ Politics, the Russian Cossack, the Avi from Rebel News.

Conservatism in NZ is nowhere to be seen. The conservative party is probably the only true home but for most NZ’ers it is tainted with religious conservatism.

As for National I think they are still in free fall, they have not hit bottom yet, and many years away from that.

As National are no longer a threat to the Parliamentary benches they should split into 2 parties.

The Auckland branch/ John Key faction to meld with Labour. This would be the home of the Luxon’s, Judith, Chris Bishop, Simon Bridges etc etc , in other words the so called Liberal faction personified by we all know who, the Waynes of the Party, and the other poor thinkers, actually they are not thinkers, they are self seekers

The rump being the rest of NZ, rural people and rural business, the rest of NZ Business, true conservatives, etc, all to fold into Act., with perhaps a rename to True New Zealand.

Poor ole David Seymour would have to be rolled, his political clarity is missing, trying to ride the Liberal horse of restricting personal freedoms, imposing mandates and being confused over what the virus is. He needs to invest in some decent researchers. Roger Douglas must be pissed with him.

As I said above, mayhem and turmoil is only just upon us… the worst is yet to come, economic and social devastation.

Will a true leader arise from the hubris ???

  9. Rossco … clearly you know zip, zero, nothing about the factions that make up the National Party any more than I do regarding the factions that make up ACT or Labour or and or …

You confirm your ignorance by describing Luxon and Bridges as representing the liberal faction in National. You can describe Luxon and Bridges as representing many things … but inhabiting the National’s liberal faction ain’t among them. Having said that National continues to stand proud as a broad church Party. Better that than a narrow focused alternative where click bait responses and simple solutions to complex questions characterised by an underlying ‘let them eat cake’ philosophy holds sway.

To be fair I guess from where you sit anyone to the left of Genghis Khan is a wet.
