No Minister

I see that Prince Andrew has been stripped of his appointment as Colonel in Chief of the Royal New Zealand Logistic Regiment (The Duke of Yorks Own). Clearly this is in reaction to the Court of Public Opinion finding him guilty as charged over an alleged sexual encounter with an under-aged girl part of the Jeffrey Epstein stable.

Clearly his position has become untenable but its also a fact that a person is deemed innocent until found guilty in a Court of law. But the smart thing for him to have done would have been to voluntary stand side from his military appointments pending resolution of the Court case.

But I’m not sure Andrew is overly smart. Certainly overladen with a fair dollop of entitlement though.

One feels for the Queen.

  1. Interesting that a news bulletin (either NewstalkZB or Magic Talk) in the middle of the day quoted Ardern as saying that she would take up the matter of Andrews New Zealand replacement with the Queen.

Vet you would probably know protocols better than us but both mrspdm and I thought Ardern had things `arse about face’. Replacement rests with the queen in consultation with the Governor General and with perhaps the Prime Minister third cab off the rank in such matters.

    More entitleitis maybe.

    • Her Majesty won’t have a show unless she has the Brainless Flibbertigibbet on speed dial.

  2. Parents responsibility for their spawn sort of ends with reaching an age of majority. This prince might have been absent the day brains were delivered and handed out leaving mush on the tray when he finally turned up next day. That said he has been given much harsher judicial and media treatment than many of Epstein’s “Friends” suffered, or were they clients, Willie Jeff for one.
If he can still fly a chopper there are many options for some restitution activity he could do for no reward, but I guess such would never occur to one such as The Duke of York.
Her Majesty deserved better from her children and this one apparently never grew up.

  4. At the very least, he is “slease adjacent” and it is not a good look for the royal family which is probably why Her Maj is making him sell some mansions to fund his legal bills.

  5. pdm … zip zero nothing to do with Ardern. The Queen stripped him of all his military titles. Ardern is trying to divert attention from ‘Jethro’,

  6. Definitely sleazy but the girl was noy “underage”.

But historically sleazy behavior is far from unprecedented in the British Royal family – they have has some real charmers in their ancestry – George the IVI or the Duke of Windsor immediately spring to mind.

Of course going after Prince Andrew diverts attention from the veritable who’s who of American establishment figures who availed themselves of trips aboard the “Lolita Express”

  7. Andy, a 41 yo divorcee at the time, used, based on a photograph or two, a willing whore.

If he had stated that straight off he would have no problems.

He lied, I have no sympathy!

  8. In the US you are guilty whatever, as a non US citizen, like Andrew and being a male, unless you can pay huge sums to very wealthy Lawyers remembering the Judges are often political appointments too.
It is the jury who make the awards in Civil cases so the judge will tell them what to do and Andrew will get done for at least US$10 million if not US$20 milllion, as the Jury can talk to the media afterwards ? for a price and become famous too. The medi throw money like confettee in such cases – they have to sell newspapers first and truth perhsps later. The Lawyers will take up to 40% of the award too so it has to be huge.
The US legal system is at least not able to be understood – only money counts.
