The Government Is Obviously Not Serious About Covid Testing

with 12 comments

Why do I say that you asked.

Well since just before Christmas, despite retiring in mid April, I have been filling in to cover holidays as a security guard for my old employer. All of this time has been at a local medical center which has a covid testing tent within the confines of it ‘s car park.

Because I only work afternoons I am not sure what time the testing starts but based on booster vaccinations it is probably 9am but may even be 10am. They close promptly at 3pm.

From 3pm on we often have people coming in looking to be tested but the testers are well gone.

The other point with this is that because of the the 9am to 3pm opening times tradesmen, orchard hands, farm hands and even office workers have to take time off work to have a test.

In my view these testing booths should be open from 6am until 9pm. The reason I chose those times is we often have RSE workers in at about 7pm or even 7.30pm looking for a test. They are conscientious workers usually starting at about 7.30am on site and knocking off at around 6pm or dark in the flush of the season.

It is past time these testing hours were brought into the modern world – especially in rural centers.

  1. A guy (in the BOP) was telling me he had been offered $80 per hour + expenses to head to Akld and encourage special people to get jabbed.

  2. It’s political expediency. When the time is right, the testing will be available.

    • Lucia Maria I think you are right. I heard yesterday there were two people with Covid in Hastings Hospital. When the number gets to say ten then we may see some action.

    • Lucia, “the time is right” only when Cindy starts copping flack for something not happening.

Otherwise the bunch of muppets running the country don’t give a damn enough to think further than their own nasty agenda.

      • Para – hard to argue against that.

      • Paranormal, it could be worse than that, in that the govt appears to see how far they can take something before they act, as well. Which is why they look like they are making it up as they go, because in a sense, they are making it up. And it looks like incompetence, but I’m absolutely sure now they have a plan. It’s the implementation that they have to be careful with.

      • Lucia – more likely if they do have a plan (and that is very much a matter for debate) they are scared to try to implement it because everything else they do fails.

  3. pdm … a plan built on the foundations of Kiwibuild with a healthy chunk of confiscation/sequestering of RAT kits as an add on for good measure.

  4. There should be an immediate end to testing, mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and every other aspect of the disgraceful covid circus that has been imposed on what was once a relatively free country. To be followed by the arrest and trial of Ardern, Bloomfield, Hipkins, Baker, Wiles, and whoever else you care to add to that list. Criminals all of them, guilty of crimes against humanity.

    • I tend to agree in principle with your first sentence Harry but will not support your arrest policy.

As an aside all staff at the Health Center where I have been two days a week for about the last 6 or 7 weeks have to have a weekly covid test and a few days ago I was told that included Security Guards. Yesterday was therefore my last day as they are only doing nasal tests and that is not acceptable to me given my age.

      • pdm – tell me why you don’t think that crew should stand trial for what they have done.

      • Harry incompetence and stupidity are not against current New Zealand law as far as I know. History shows that previous Labour Governments have not had any members before the Courts even though they set the precedence for increasing inflation, increasing interest rates, adherence to a flawed ideology and emptying the coffers of a country. All of that is just what Labour Governments do naturally..

Both the World Court and current New Zealand Supreme Court would probably laud them not jail them.
