One of my most satisfying moments came after listening to an address by a mid level executive, extoling the virtues of building a ‘sustainable business. When he paused to draw breath, I asked him what was the difference between a sustainable business and a profitable business?
The poor bastard was stuffed. His mouth opened and closed but there was no sound.
I walked out of the meeting.
There were no adverse consequences. They needed my sales figures more than his bullshit.
No Minister 
I had a similar situation. After joining a US domiciled broker in NZ in a relatively senior role, I had managed to avoid the indoctrination, ooops I mean induction training for about 9 months when they finally nabbed me.
I was probably the oldest inductee by a long chalk. We sat through one worthy after another droning on about their part of the business when eventually the companies legal and compliance officer entered the room.
In front of the gathered senior folk and inductees she started with the unfortunate question “Why do we have Compliance?”
I’d had a fair bit to do with her over the previous 9 months so when I put my hand up she felt comfortable calling on me. “So Paranormal, why do we have Compliance?”
To which I answered, “So we can become one with the Borg”. Brought the roof down.
