Interesting to me that when Chris Hipkins was made Police Minister over the hapless Poto Williams he was touted as a fix-it man in the same category as National’s Steven Joyce. The reality is somewhat different.
He was Minister of Health for part of Labour’s first term and presided over the deterioration of our health services from that bequeathed to him by Tony Ryall including the scrapping of health targets. He has been the Minister of Education since 2017 during which time virtually every metric measuring educational standards has gone south at a rate of knots. His time as the Covid Response Minister and particularly over the last year can be fairly described as mostly fluff and little substance highlighted by the Covid testing debacle revealed this week. And then his tenure as the Public Services Minister … a standout performance if performance is to measured by the ballooning of public servant numbers that has occurred under his watch.
If Hipkin’s is the best they’ve got then would the last person to leave New Zealand please not forget to turn off the lights.
Absolutely true. Just like Ardern and Robertson he talks a good game but has no execution. Travesty that the only achievement was to destroy charter schools for ideology sake.
Surely you jest Vet, comparing him to Joyce then consider Bill Birch, Chipkins is not fit to be considered as one to carry the Paper on a tramp to light fires and other crisis management issues.
I am wondering if Stephen Joyce was the last of valued political operatives sufficiently aware to be in that essential role, subverting all ambitions to advance the team.
Now all seem to be Prime Minister material, think Adams, Muller, Kaye, and the supremo don,t you know who I am Gilmore.
GD .. not me comparing him to Joyce … twas the media …. as for Gilmore, all parties have them per courtesy of MMP … electorate MPs are soon found out.
You people are not giving credit where it is due to Chippy.
Single handedly he has reduced class sizes by ensuring between 30% and 40% of kids are not required to attend school.
