TOTAL ARROGANCE, NOT A CHIRP OF CORRECTION?

with 11 comments

On some weekend propaganda segment of public information, one Patrick “Paddy” Gower alleged in a discussion of the O’Connor MP for Tamaki, tweet that expressed support for the SCOTUS decision to send abortion back to the States in the Overturning of Roe Vs Wade decision so wrongly described as making abortion impossible for millions world wide. Gower wrongly claimed in easily ascertained provable information, National current leader Christopher Luxon had voted against the liberalising( it allows full term babies to be killed rather than given birth and treated under the right to life provisions of “The Hippocratic Oath”) of New Zealand’s Abortion law reforms, one year before Luxon was elected as an MP.

Remind me again what exactly does egregious mean,
a go to dictionary source I rely upon suggests:
outstandingly bad;
shocking.
appalling
horrific
horrifying
horrible
terrible
awful.

So someone select a more appropriate word to describe the verbal assault by Gower as a directed hit job on behalf of the sinking labour outfit from very high up, on a direct political threat to the Cabal?

Need more options:

  • atrocious.
  • deplorable.
  • extreme.
  • flagrant.
  • glaring.
  • grievous.
  • heinous.
  • intolerable.

“Sickening”?

I will stay with EGREGIOUS.

  1. It’s rather dumb bringing up the abortion debate in NZ, because of what happened in the US.
The latest abortion laws in NZ were decided by conscience vote and the ayes and nayes are spread evenly throughout all the parties involved.

    • It’s not dumb from a political POV. Lefty politicians, activists like Martyn Bradbury and our MSM have pulled this stunt – as crazy as it might seem – for very rational reasons:

The general population largely ignoring politics but easily swayed by fear (see also Chinese Lung Rot)

The general undertone of anti-Americanism that has steadily grown here over recent decades.

The pig-ignorance of most Kiwis about America, especially how it governs itself (I honestly think most people imagine it’s just the President and some Parliament that bends to his will).

The reinforcement of that ignorance by our MSM at every possible opportunity, given their own largely Lefty tendencies – again increasingly so – plus the shallowness and ignorance of the USA that they themselves have.

They’ve got nothing much positive to talk themselves up anymore given all the problems they’re facing, and that they’re largely responsible for.

Now that’s not to say it will work. There may be enough “influencers” to call bullshit on this tactic (I wouldn’t call it a strategy), but more likely it will simply be overwhelmed by the growing numbers of C-19 cases and deaths (by their measure, but live by the sword, die by the sword), plus all the increasingly obvious problems with healthcare, education, crime and the economy.

But it is rational and it’s not dumb – just desperate.

      • This is all well and good, but how often can you tell ‘fire’ before people ignore you?

      • That is the question, but in this case the voters are the ones on fire while they see fireman running past telling them that they have to deal with another fire. 🙂

    • Here’s another similar argument from a commentator on Kiwiblog:

St J is an aspirational and inspirational leader, she is caring and has a babeee…. the 18 to 50 female demographic LOOOVVVEEE her.

The whole attack on Luxon for something he said was settled and not to be re-litigated, was designed by Labours strategy team to try and shore up the liberal, female under 50 vote. And judging by the insanity of the women I know in the 35 to 55 ish demographic when I asked them why the concern over something in AMERICA and it was a dead issue here (excuse the pun) they gave me heavily triggered, highly emotive sisterhood rationales.

Labours comms people are using pure Kahneman System 1 triggering messages which overwhelm the rational part of peoples thinking.

Its so obvious if you stop and analyse the messaging. Has been since the first COVID 19 press conference ( I was reading Kahnemans seminal Thinking Fast and Slow in late 2019 and early 2020 – the methods in the book popped in St J’s messaging constantly)

National need an emotion trigger with women under 50 to regain enough of that demographics soft vote to get rid of Labour.

      • Pretty easy, should they be brave enough to do it. Start talking about the effects of the shots on children.

  3. You can fairly ask whether ‘Paddy’ was entirely sober when he made that claim given his self much publicsed issues with the demon drink. .

  4. The left hit job on Luxon will back fire. Two reasons. First, it looks desperate. Two, it takes one or two more times of Luxon repeating his commitment to put the issue completely to bed.
Yes, Gower was wrong, and has made no attempt to correct it. In fact TV3 had a repeat of the item last night, with no correcting statement. Journalists expect politicians to correct obviously wrong statements, especially on substantial issues. They should hold themselves to the same standard.

    • Perhaps Dr Mapp it is an issue a politician with integrity and substance would not want put to bed but would want to see resolved according to his conscience and beliefs

Indeed sir what distinguishes great leaders from the mediocre is their determination to fight the battles that need to be fought regardless of the opposition from the mindless morons who dominate public discourse

As it is Luxon comes across as a beta male being henpecked by the harridans of the main stream media
