By 1940 John A Lee was one of the most celebrated Labour MP’s around. A WWI veteran who’d lost an arm in combat he was a passionate writer and a spell-binding speaker. In the 1920’s and 1930’s he’d given weight to a Labour Party that was otherwise exposed with men who had shirked war service, in some cases because of genuine conscientious objection, sometimes because of simple cowardice.
But when he accused Labour leader Micky Savage of failing to deliver on socialist promises, including a pamphlet with the partial title “psycho-pathology in politics”, he was expelled from Labour and they did everything possible to destroy him. That he was not completely destroyed – although it was the end of Parliament for him – was down to the simple fact that he outlived most of his Labour enemies and out-wrote them.
No. Sharma will be destroyed and Jacinda Ardern will survive. She has to, because that is now also the survival of the Labour Party, however the chips may fall. At this rate that at least will mean a defeat in the 2023 General Election. You may console yourself with that.

Add to that the next obvious step of his electorate committee resigning from Labour in support of him plus (allegedly) 5 or 6 sitting MP’s, one maybe senior and who knows what the final outcome will be?
