Based on history I would have said yes. Certainly the collectivisation of Russian farms in the USSR and Mao’s Great Leap Forward could not have been achieved without having a State police force pointing their firearms at unarmed civilians.
On the other hand, the last two years of General Tso’s Sickness has persuaded me that there are rather large chunks of our society who will willingly bend to the wishes of the State if they are both terrified enough and sense that opposition to the State’s plans is small and weak, plus another chunk that think they’ll be the ones in charge of all of this.

Simple, you need an oversized bureaucracy with surfeit time and people, with low educational achievements, in the humanities, combined with a Labour type Party combined with a Green type Party.
These people have never come within an inch of working for a living, getting their hands dirty or risking their own money in a business enterprise.
Their ideology trumps reason and logic.
Look no further than Germany and their energy policy. A combo of the Greens and Socialists have potentially fucked Germany. People such as Andre will be happy but they are one of the powerhouses of Europe, and the world.
President Trump was right again, the dark state is the biggest risk to the world we live in and our continued existence as a civilisation.

Based on his writings and other comments, I don’t think he’s being sarcastic. We’re far past the time when we can see and hear people like him saying stuff like this and dismissing it as “just another Lefty nutter”, or “Nobody is that crazy”.
These people are entirely serious, they have serious money behind them, and it’s time the rest of us took them seriously.
