What will happen when the “Empire writes back”?

Fascinating piece on the impact of internet use in India on the English speaking world

TLDR: Some key quotes below but worth a read if you have time

…Indian academics stop thinking that their life’s goal is to “graduate” from India to become part of the western elite, and instead decide to take up their role of being prominent voices of a re-emerging civilizational identity. If and when this happens, India will have a lot of interesting things to say to the world.

Indians, irrespective of region and religion, are still largely a conservative people, who believe in antiquated notions like faith, family, virtues, togetherness of communities, etc.

Indians will not fall in-line on many of the projects of the western liberal elite – call us old-fashioned, but we still believe in boring old concepts like national borders, in organizing society not to maximize the profits of the shareholders or to re-engineer society to achieve ideological ends, but to the benefit of families.

The Western elite and their media houses are already grappling with these unfortunate realities. They look at India and see a billion people who would be conservatives if they lived in their western countries, and that scares the hell out of them.

For those of us of a more conservative bent it is welcome news.

The patronising racism from the likes of Kelvin Davis who believe “brown” people must support the left will become difficult to sustain. Telling ACT’s Karen Chhour that she cannot be a true Maori because she does not agree with leftist propaganda is just racist.

The US and British left are equally guilty. They dismiss true thinkers like Clarence Thomas and Thomas Sowell. What struck me about the UK Tories was how little it mattered or was remarked upon that the last 4 participants in the UK leadership election were not white males. A Labour MP described Kwasi Kwarteng, the new UK Chancellor of the Exchequer of being “superficially black”. He is of Ghanaian heritage. He is very sound.

I look forward to the coming strength of support for families over woke socialist ideology.

  1. Yes history is fascinating.

It is the end of the road for Russia and China.

That leaves India. If it maintains a semblance of democracy and the rule of law you could expect it to emerge as a true super power to rival the USA. This process may take 200-300 years, who knows.

Russia is done. It may take another 10 years but with an economy the size of Australia the curtain has been drawn back to show the true mess Russia is.

China is done. A property boom and bust, a bank bust, a dictatorship modelled on Russia, western firms leaving in droves, a model built on sand.

For both these countries they are done because their populations are done. Looking at the population pyramids for both countries you can see it. The one child policy in China, the huge gap in the 20- 30 year old cohort in Russia, and the fact their populations are shrinking.

On the other hand India has a well balanced population pyramid, and as W&P states a very conservative population.

    Truly fascinating

  2. Look at the recent Conservative Party leadership race in the UK. Most of the top Candidates were immigrants from the Commonwealth.

The Indian Diaspora in the UK has in the main assimilated reasonably well as opposed to the Pakistani Diaspora.

Oh it’s not just the British Left:

Thomas Sowell is a rather predictable reference for Tom Hunter. I have read most of what Sowell has written over the years and have been rather unimpressed. He has very little recognition of community wide effects of decades of discrimination, and its effects on the psyche.

Three guesses for our readers (without clicking on the link) as to who said that here on No Minister.

      • It is quite evident there is a strong skein of overt racism running through these Maoris like Mappy, Willy Jackson, KEL….vin. Its based on a belief of “decades of discrimination”

In reality its just a failure to achieve, which is attributed to discrimination as an excuse.

Sowell is black, The discrimination he would have faced in his lifetime is something our Maori boys would have not the slightest inkling.

Mappy is the worst because of his arrogance in making that comment. What he and the others fail to see is their overt racism, believing two wrongs (if the first wrong exists in the first place) makes a right.

The worst mistake us whitey’s ever made was giving the Maori welfare. It destroyed their culture and gave them the luxury of sitting on their arses, and having an excuse for failure, but they have called it discrimination, as its easier.

  4. “China is done. A property boom and bust, a bank bust, a dictatorship modelled on Russia, western firms leaving in droves, a model built on sand.”
And then you look at the direction of education and the political sphere in America & NZ. It is producing woke kids who can barely read and don’t understand hard work and deferred gratification. China is still going to be a long-term force, even though I agree about demography, but it is focused on education, aspiration and wide prosperity unlike most of the West.

Western firms are leaving because of US sanctions or because they are finding lower cost locations elsewhere like Vietnam, Indonesia etc. China residential property is no doubt a bubble, but would you rather be climbing onto the property ladder in a country where there is an oversupply of housing vs the NIMBY constraints on growth in the wealthy anglosphere. NZ pricing is horrendous. Evergrande and their ilk are no better or worse than the S&L crisis and the Big Short 2008 GFC.

As far as politics goes it would seem China is following the Singapore model. You will have very limited democracy but strong economic growth and national pride.

Russia is weak with people but has strength in resources and may cause havoc for decades to come. Why would it want to follow the EU lead of gentle decline into a tourist destination with an over mighty view of its own capability?

  5. Since it’s not showing up in the auto-links I thought I’d just use this to link to similar post I did a few months ago, The blood of the mind:

That’s a quote from an Indian economist, Madhav Das Nalapat, who was writing about some of the cultural aspects of the so-called “Anglosphere”, the English-speaking world.

The quote comes from an interesting essay which argues that many of the freedoms we associate with the world today are actually rooted in the English language itself, where concepts that started as natural parts of the lives of people in Britain, became encoded into the language.

    • LOL, the hubris of the Anglo Saxon mind – to be sure there are many admirable things that people from the Anglo Saxon world have contributed to the advance humanity but there are very dark things too.

In a way you are resting on past glories as a new dark age emerges

      Try this for size

The current neocolonial model is ultimately doomed; this much is obvious. But I repeat that its real masters will cling to it to the end. They simply have nothing to offer the world except to maintain the same system of plundering and racketeering.

They do not give a damn about the natural right of billions of people, the majority of humanity, to freedom and justice, the right to determine their own future. They have already moved on to the radical denial of moral, religious, and family values.

Let’s answer some very simple questions for ourselves. Now I would like to return to what I said and want to address also all citizens of the country – not just the colleagues that are in the hall – but all citizens of Russia: do we want to have here, in our country, in Russia, “parent number one, parent number two and parent number three” (they have completely lost it!) instead of mother and father? Do we want our schools to impose on our children, from their earliest days in school, perversions that lead to degradation and extinction? Do we want to drum into their heads the ideas that certain other genders exist along with women and men and to offer them gender reassignment surgery? Is that what we want for our country and our children? This is all unacceptable to us. We have a different future of our own.

Let me repeat that the dictatorship of the Western elites targets all societies, including the citizens of Western countries themselves. This is a challenge to all. This complete renunciation of what it means to be human, the overthrow of faith and traditional values, and the suppression of freedom are coming to resemble a “religion in reverse” – pure Satanism. Exposing false messiahs, Jesus Christ said in the Sermon on the Mount: “By their fruits ye shall know them.” These poisonous fruits are already obvious to people, and not only in our country but also in all countries, including many people in the West itself.

The world has entered a period of a fundamental, revolutionary transformation. New centres of power are emerging. They represent the majority – the majority! – of the international community. They are ready not only to declare their interests but also to protect them. They see in multipolarity an opportunity to strengthen their sovereignty, which means gaining genuine freedom, historical prospects, and the right to their own independent, creative and distinctive forms of development, to a harmonious process.

As I have already said, we have many like-minded people in Europe and the United States, and we feel and see their support. An essentially emancipatory, anti-colonial movement against unipolar hegemony is taking shape in the most diverse countries and societies. Its power will only grow with time. It is this force that will determine our future geopolitical reality.

  6. Heh:

First, it was a recitation of the justifications for Russkiy Mir, how everyone has been mean to Russia, done it bad, and otherwise behaved like a guy in a Crystal Gayle song towards the Rodina throughout its history. For all that the US was the focus of his bitching, Great Britain comes in for a lot of oblique criticism too. In fact, it might could be argued that more was directed at them than most may realize — it depends on how well one knows Russian history and Russian culture.
    ….
Four, his attack on Western values including references to transitioning children and other hot-button topics in the West (including family values which may have included an indirect swipe at the new Italian PM) was IMO a touch of brilliance that reflects the old Vladimir rather than the current. I expect to see any attempt to go after such efforts in the West now resulting in accusations of being a Russian stooge/proxy/agent/etc. Yet more Gramscian damage to the West. Well played.

Reminded me of the KGB’s endless efforts to:
    – push the story that AIDS was invented by the CIA to kill Africans
    – Support anti-nuclear efforts in the West.
    – Support the idea that elections in the West were meaningless because there was no difference between any of the political parties (something that more than a few hard line Lefties at The Standard and The Daily Blog still believe).
    – Support shit art via funding in order to make Western public spaces ugly. Admittedly the CIA was doing much the same in the USA with “abstract art” which the public hated. 😂😂😂😂😂

Good thing the KGB is long gone!😉
