Many aspiring political opportunists make “equality” an opening mantra, when the reality of life dictates anything but.
Socialism is chock full of perpetuating the myth when reality states irrevocably the sole pathway to equality is to reduce all to a low level of wealth in possessions and power, of course that does not apply to the elite at the trough, miraculously they need additional wealth and comfort and no single person understands why?
Reading Animal Farm does however give a portrayal of a reality of socialism.
Beauty as assessed by the elite is never equal any more than dexteriority, agility, body shape, and mental ability, but craft and cunning will always see a few rise to ‘best in show’, it is the great variable, human endeavour, and that includes the often ignored Darwinism where survival of the fittest produces winners.
Winners that modern rulers so often attempt to mitigate to a net result of reducing the herd to mediocrity and worse still, poverty.
This morning a teacher, leader of their herd, I think she was a PPTA official, was on about removing streaming from education where higher intellectual abilities are promoted with some startling outcomes, some of tender years get to university levels while their fellows struggle with basics, too often giving up entirely. A sad outcome that will make unlikely another Rutherford, Einstein, Curie, Fleming, Rontgen, Cartwright, Watt, Stevenson or similar ever being able to bring great thinking to bear in solving worlds problems?
Never mind I am sure Maori Medicine will eventually be brought to bear for a future Pandemic, couldn’t be any more damaging than the worlds political leaders delivered en mass in the face of The WuHan Lung Rot I guess.
