Hosking this morning highlighted a story of a couple of doctors.
They came to New Zealand during covid from UK and got working visas because they were doctors.
Now they are looking to leave because, according to the story, immigration is too slow in granting them residence.
I wonder if that’s correct.
These doctors ran away from UK at a time when their skills were needed rather badly. Their leaving process was almost certainly started when Boris was prevaricating and considering the Swedish option.
They most likely chose New Zealand because New Zealand, foolishly, had voted in a communist dictator. That dictator has proved to be typical of communists everywhere (useless as a flyscreen door on a submarine), is almost certainly on the way out and now they want to run away (again).
I wonder if immigration has actually considered these issues and are deliberately slowing down any resident visa because in their (immigration’s) very understandable view, these people are not the most desirable type for New Zealand?
Or are immigration, like Minister Wood, simply outstandingly incompetent?
Today was meant to be a gardening day, but it started raining and it seems to be still going. Yes, just stuck my head out of the window. Finally have learned how to use the weed eater/whacker/snipper – whatever it’s called, always forget what we call these things in NZ. After the first day, used the thing till the battery ran out, my arms and shoulders hurt a lot and was shaky for hours afterwards. Seem to be getting the knack of it now and wanted to do some more!
