China’s Island activity
Reading about China’s renewed activities in the Spratley Islands reminded me of a chapter in a book I read earlier this year: “The Invention of China” by Bill Hayton. From memory, one the resources for China’s claims comes from a 1940s [equivalent to a ] secondary school geography teacher, rather than an expert cartographer. The teacher converted [mostly] English shipping charts into Chinese characters/ names; mistranslated submerged shoals as islands ~ islands that are now considered valued treasures for millennia.
claims not rooted in History The enclosed blog gives a partial summary of the chapter I refer, and includes a YouTube discussion by the author Hayton {an interesting 30 minutes that held my attention; and 30 minutes Q &A}
Territorial claims by China are myths and propaganda and not revered treasures that are sacred to China, and require China to belligerently and militarily ensure they are held by them
Strange, a comment I made about 12:30pm is still awaiting an appearance. Can’t see how it could have possibly breached any etiquette
A non fulmination – merry Christmas to everyone
Apologies Peter. You’ve been approved before so should go straight through, but I’ve been very busy today so did not notice.
China , a nation just waiting to have its arse kicked by the Yanks.
Invading Taiwan would be a fatal mistake, no, mis-calculation for them.
Amerika, plus Japan on one front, and India on the other.
As Peter Zeihan , says on U-Tube, paraphrasing him, China is fucked because they interfered in the natural population pyramid with their one child policy, plus advanced countries like the US, Japan, Korea are exiting the country in droves, and relocating manufacturing to more stable countries.
Russia and China are finished, all due to Xi and Putrid
