#1 from my post of 29 December … Jacx will not lead the Labour Party into the next election.
I’m picking Wood over Hipkins but Keri Allan could be a dark horse … such is the power of the Maori caucus.
Mean – but clever…

In a related blindingly obvious prediction the Sun will rise in the East on Jnuary the 21st 2023.
Of course I predicted Covid-19 was BS in January 2020 and got stick for it
And I predicted the Vaccine would be a major public health disaster which is provi9ng to be true as we speak.
And got mocked for it.
The reason why that vapid woman is bailing now is the shit is about to hit the fan BIG TIME and she is a rat leaving a sinking ship.
Yes you did and so did I. I applaud you for your courage in making those predictions.
The abuse I took for my opinions on Covid was unbelievable but I don’t care, still got people who wont talk to me.
As for Jacinda she’s a coward resigning now, she knows the chickens are coming home to roost.
What’s the bet WEF or UN?
If you think she resigned of her own free will, I have a bridge that will make an ideal addition to your portfolio.
This is actually a worst case scenario for NZ. If she had stayed on to the election Labour would have been decimated. Ideal solution.
Instead we now have the hardline socialists free of Jacindas promises, able to implement all the crazy hardline stuff they know people will reward them for in the next election.
Well called Vet. I underestimated just how craven she is and thought she would stay until the election. I assumed the gossip that she was going to go was just that. She probably got the nod at Davos for another role.
Let me guess, stay on in Parliament until mid April, resign, end of May accept wonderful UN job…..biggest question spurn a Damehood like Aunty H or take it as the last bouble……
Allan is no better, ask any East Coast local. Just a gay, slightly maori version of the same. The puddle is very shallow. Polling wouldn’t float a small stick at 20%.
That along with the “aw shucks, little old me” Kiwi schtick. All of which makes Allan a front runner, in the eyes of the party faithful.
Well done Vet. Another prediction you got right and that I got wrong. I was certain she’d stick around until the election, simply because it would be a repeat of 2017 in that the rest of Labour would go Save us, Jacinda. You’re our only hope.
Maybe they have been saying this and her response is that it’s just sheer exhaustion? She never really wanted the job in the first place, and with her candid discussions of stress and anxiety I actually believed her on that claim (unlike most political climbers) and I still do. In 2017 she felt she had to be the Good Party Member who does what the Party asks. In 2023… enough.
and the adverse jab wagons/investigations are circling…
Over at The Daily Blog, “Bomber” is bereft…We bwoke our Pwime Minister”๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
My comments there often donโt get published for some reason.
The gist of my comment was that Iโve never seen Ardern get mud thrown at her, or a dildo. Or have a musician sing about raping her daughter. Or have crowds at a concert egged on to chant โfuck Jacinda Ardenโ. Yet Bomber seems to think sheโs had a hard time of it
It ainโt easy being a snowflake.
As the saying goes for the Left Wing: If they didn’t have double standards they’d have no standards at all
Vet, I can’t congratulate you on a prediction that, as Andrei notes, is the equivalent of predicting the sun will rise in the East.
When the going gets tough, the dishonest run for the hills.
I hope Adhern goes forward into obscurity, living a very long life of hardship, pain and misery, as it visited on so many New Zealanders. The only positive thought is that the greedy, brainless scum that put it in place will almost certainly go with it.
I doubt I understood the term “hate” until 2020. This thing has certainly been educational.
I look forward to the trials for negligent but deliberate manslaughter that must surely follow.
Gone. Ovedue.
A spiteful person Jacinda (ask the pizza worker she blamed for not following the rules and risking all of the country, but who had actually followed the rules – blamed wrongly and no retractions and apology….)
A liar Jacinda, in my opinion of course ( unvaccinated will face no consequences, but exercising our bodily autonomy lead to job losses and banning from all sorts of places…)
Im happy to see her go – a lightweight and and a liar, in my opinion of course
Labour will run under urgency till the election and ram through as many destructive policies as possible with the hope of either bribing their way to a 3rd term or that so much will need undoing that some will be missed and the socialist ratchet will have been moved up a rung to set a nice baseline for their next destructive turn in power…
Hope National are ready to actually unravel all this mob have inflicted on the country and then go a hell of a lot further. A slashing of government is overdue and a freeing of innovative economic thinking is required like no time since 1983….
Andern’s legacy … she did empathy in spades. By virtually every other metric she talked the talk and failed to walk the walk. Yet there are some out there, part of the great unwashed, who would argue ‘she’ was MJS reincarnated … sad.
I guess our loss is the world’s woke gain.
Love this reaction from Tucker Carlson; however watching the clip of Jacinda Ardern resigning – she was holding back tears! My impression is that she sounds like she didn’t jump, she was pushed. She would be sounding relieved, otherwise.
Holy shit. Given the obsessive hatred of Carlson by the Left in general around the world, this will be a hair-on-fire moment.
But in all honesty I’ve never hated her. The one I really want to burst into flame on stage is Justin Trudeau. ๐
If only some of this was played on our MSM! Hair on fire is a great analogy! LOL
Of course she was pushed. Labour would have been seeing the same polling everyone else was, that Jacindas brand was toxic. There was no way they could go into the election and hope to survive with her in the lead. I think thereโs something in the Labour rule book about in an election year they donโt have to involve the unions in the leadership selection. With over half the current MPs looking to lose their cushy existence with Cindy as leader it should come as no surprise sheโs gone early.
I literally booked our flights to New Zealand yesterday, and then Ardern had resigned by the evening. Coincidence? ๐
It’s funny, because I had always expected to outlast the Ardern Era in exile, and so it has come to pass – by a hair’s breadth.
Wood and Allan, I guess, represent more Maorification, and therefore death at the polls
Chippie if he has any sense would ditch about 5 or so policies and high tail it to the centre. Damage limitation
E2T hope you have an option on a return ticket, we are talking adern is the blunt end of the dumbell it only gets worse behind her.
Had lunch with 4 retired senior aircraft engineers from Air New Zealand, started on the apprenticeship scheme aged 16 now in their early 70’s. They rated Lux good on finance, too tight they reckoned, but bad on woke.
Overall one of the better ANZ CEO’s
Still the bar has been set low, how high will Lux take it is the big question we await the answer for.
I think Luxon would be OK on the backroom admin detail stuff, but will need to be kept by Seymour away from the fuzzy woke stuff. Need ACT to be a strong component of the coalition.
Justin Trudeau has the world’s most punchable face, it’s true. But he’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and neither is Ardern. I hate stupidity, but it’s hard to hate genuinely stupid people. My biggest emotion with Ardern is shame – this is the first Prime Minister of my own generation, and this is the best we can do?
The worst thing about Ardern was that she was blatantly, obviously a meritless politician, who couldn’t beat National in Auckland Central, and actually lost the 2017 election. Only the extreme tailwinds of covid and an opposition in disarray carried her in 2020. She has up until this point been entirely covered for by a fawning media who practically made up a parallel image for her. It has taken a long time to break through that image, but finally cracks have brought daylight in, and the illusion is dissolved.
Very well said.
The media bribe was her (almost) masterstroke. Worked for quite a while.
