Who nu that.

There is a Maori Calendar and could be it has as many holes as a colander.

It is a 354 day annually with 29.5 days in a “marama”. (could that be the basis for one and a half days in lieu) No mention in my investigations so far what happens to few odd days that could be a sort of discrepancy when the Earth’s trips around the Sun get out of sync? I mean here are a dozen or so leftovers?

Matariki can be any old day between June 20th and July 25th and like Easter iit falls on a Friday. Cripes Easter only spans thirty four options. Easter incidentally has been around considerably longer than Matariki, many natives had no bloody idea it existed until very recently.

2023 sees the second “celebration” of the momentous long revered day of reflection and introspection marking passings of the last year “and a bit”.

Of course it must be noted Easter was celebrated on a previous pagan spring solstice celebration time the Christians stole and rededicated to their beliefs.

I am left wondering why it was only one day and not the entire month and a bit “On the callendar to give business certainty” LoL?

One absolute certainty there will be some unrecoverable costs of another day off, days in lieu, that will bring pressure on some struggling business.

For me though just another 24 hour day as an “unpaid carer” at the nominal rate of compensation from Grunter.
