I am one who normally accedes to the collective wisdom of Caucus in choosing a leader and view the union influenced conniptions that often surround such matters for The NZLP as counter to democracy.
Therefore I am very reluctant as a center right supporter of functioning democratic behavior to openly question that collective decision making.
If Mr Luxon is the best option in their deliberations then I must assume they have the facts and wisdom, so Good Luck National.
When Mr Luxon turned so comprehensively on Maureen Pugh for merely reflecting something it is highly probable she is confronting regularly, in questioning the actual real degree of human activity in changing the Climate? Very likely something any independent West Coaster mind could be assumed to ask regularly understanding the long association of the population digging coal up to release affordable useable energy, I was somewhat dismayed. It was Up There with the extremely intemperate remarks attributed to Bridges in a personal assessment of Ms Pugh who I have encountered on Grey Nomad travels through the “Coast” as opposed to the airheads who living in the subtropical climes of Golden Bay who send O’Connor back to Wellington to continue the cultural attacks on the very place that allowed Socialism to flourish before the academics and teachers took over, and found her what I might see as a local formed, focussed on local needs, MP.
Today we are witnessing another Public putting down by Mr Luxon for Chris Penk who many see as a real asset for National seeking to overcome a media Ms Tova O’brien represents so thoroughly as a propaganda arm of the Labour Government.
So what did Chris Penk say?
“”Sorry but your poor ratings crashed an entire radio station,” Penk tweeted on Friday”.???
A hint of Hyperbole yes, correct? well to a degree TO’B was not likely a great deal of assistance in avoiding the ratings collapse for the station, worthy of a comment from a Leader, certainly not, nowhere near the truly awful words from the Gob of now in exile Micky Wood calling the legitimate protesting the mandated madness ” A river of filth”.
A seemingly dearth of political awareness exhibited by the National leader that goes someway to understand the salient fact that English delivered a vote of over 40% when Peters in a fit of enraged pique delivered That Woman as his best option to benefit Peters.
Mr Luxon is struggling to deliver 30%?
I am not advocating any form of leadership change but I am questioning my faith in the collective nous of the National Caucus and those ostensibly leading the election strategy, perhaps a “Biden” strategy is called for, keeping him with Kel Davis, Nanaia Mahuta out of sight and hopefully the rest can get the golden offerings delivered daily from the Chipkins rabble to coalesce into what the evidence reveals as a winning effort, inexplicably stalled in the Low 30%
Luxon is a total leftist tool and complete fool. It’s not really a surprise that the caucus would think he would be the answer to anything given the lack of talent they have.
Fools mostly.
The treatment of Ms Pugh was a total disgrace that says more about what a total jerk and fool Luxon is than her.
He’s doing more to make Labour look good than Chipkins is, in short he’s Labours best asset.
I will of course still vote for our local National guy here only because the alternative is so horrible, but I wont be happy about it.
It’s a sad state that we are forced to vote for the least worst option.
I said when Bridges was chosen than National must love being in opposition so much they picked a leader who ensured they’d stay there. I rapidly came to the further conclusion that the problem with National wasn’t that they had the wrong leader, it was that they had the wrong caucus. They will take a generation to dig themselves out of the milquetoast. Luxon is not a bad leader because he is an outlier. He is bad, because he accurately reflects the National caucus.
