National’s brilliant plan means this entrepreneur, the very people we need to attract here, will pay $450,000 tax on a property purchase that she needs to make in order to live her to start her business.
You. Couldn’t. Make. This. Shit. Up

An (almost guaranteed lefty) sheila wants to take advantage of New Zealand’s cheaper (compared to California) costs and lax business policing to start a business but is whinging about having to pay taxes because she refuses (no doubt because
ifwhen it craps out owing millions she can run away) to take up residency.I’d double the tax!
This Woman presumably couldn’t buy a house here if it wasn’t for Nationals policy.
Personally I’d have thought wether a house cost her $3 mill or $3.45 mill wouldn’t have much impact on her emigrating if her business was such a great concept
Why would you bother even considering voting for a National party that runs Labour lite policies when you can get the full cream Labour version?
I understand the tax would be levied on the sum over and above $2mill and not on the entire consideration.
If you are European or American $2m NZD is only roughly $1m USD, thats a pretty cheap house by their standards.
The thing I like is they have identified the departments for cost savings, and listed them out, something I told them to do 9 months ago. !!
To me its a pretty lazy half billion a year of savings. Small beer
I mean really, these guys need a blunt axe taken to them. Just look at Foreign Affairs and Trade, up 72 % in 5 years, opening offices in locations that dont need them, staff conferences in foreign counties, blah blah. MBIE the same, Womans Affairs, a joke in its self until you see, Min of the Environment.
The rot is widespread
That list should have been 300 long with every dept, every quango, every half arsed tax payer funded organization listed along with their proposed savings.
The only thing missing from the list were the CEO’s of these organisations and their photos.
I beat there were a few meetings around the water coolers which involved cold sweats, or rather zoom calls as most of them dont even work at the office these days.
I would have added in local Govt reform, expected savings
I would have added in 25 cents a litre tax decrease with immediate affect.
The economy is stalled , we need to get it going and fast, and the best way is money in consumers back pockets.
A good start by National, perhaps a bit detailed when a stronger broader approach would have been better, but it shows they have done their homework, and it sends a message to the paper cut, paper clip brigades that real cuts are coming.
Rossco my understanding is that National will release their fiscal plan after the Prefu is released.
They will then know how deep and black Robertson’s hole is.
Immigration is destroying New Zealand. Unless you’re coming here to employ people, or work in a profession the people already here can’t or won’t do, we should be shut. We’re full. And no, you can’t deprive New Zealanders of affordable housing by buying property. Hell no.
NZ let in what, 100k migrants in the last 12 months and there’s close to 400k working age spongers on benefits? And that number doesn’t even include the lifestyle ACC loafers.
Plus you have the Living Wage arfseholes.
Gone up top to $26 an hour !!. Now that needs a severe prune or an act of abolition.
Along with Porky’s suggestion…70,000 more on welfare in 5 years …My God!
