Believers in the Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) theory often talk about “trends”; increases in atmospheric and ocean temperatures, plus hurricanes and other storms – almost anything in fact, as long as it can be tied to AGW and is getting worse.
The graph above doesn’t show anything that we haven’t known for at least twenty years, which is that all the AGW computer models used by the ICCP continue to fail to match reality by over-shooting the actual temperature increase, and that “trend” is definitely growing worse all the time.
When these observations of failure were first made twenty years ago the counter-argument was that the models were barely twenty years old at the time (most younger than that) and that they would improve over time. Clearly that hasn’t happened.
Which is why, when I read the following statement made by US “Climate Ambassador” John Kerry the other day, I was both amused and pained by his chutzpah in calling out “deniers”:
Without facts or economics on their side, they flatly deny what is happening to our planet and what we must do to save it. They incite a movement against what they falsely label ‘climate change fanaticism,’ as they conveniently forget that the dictionary definition of a cult is the dismissal of facts in devotion to a lie..
…
And while they refuse to accept the facts behind increasingly obvious damages, which the First Minister listed, they lash out at the truth-tellers instead, and label indisputable evidence as hysteria. They compound the already difficult challenge of the climate crisis, by promising to do more of exactly what created this crisis in the first place. So now, humanity is inexorably threatened by humanity itself, by those seducing people into buying into a completely fictitious, alternative reality, where we don’t need to act and we don’t even need to care.
I wonder if he’s ever seen that graph? Would he understand what it means? Even a bunch of climate scientists writing for the Nature magazine last year expressed concerns over their models “running hot”. However, they hastened to assure people that this does not invalidate the theory of AGW and that we must press ahead on reducing GHG emissions, whatever the cost to human beings. They were also very concerned that this situation would give succor to “Climate Change Deniers”.
Yeah! Facts do have a habit of screwing up theories. It’s called science.
I think it would be more accurate to say that the Climate Change movement now has an “inexorable” momentum itself, in that no amount of impoverishment, AGW model failure, or renewable energy failure will stop it.
Like more than a few other things in our world – social welfare systems and national debt – come to mind, this movement will have to crash and burn itself.
I did laugh at this description of John Kerry and his movement in the wake of that little spiel:
John Kerry has made a career out of being a liar, buffoon, hypocrite and wrong about virtually every critical policy position, foreign and domestic, that there can be. His execrable blood-libeling of the average American soldier serving in Vietnam (a war for profit that his party pimped) notwithstanding, it’s easy to laugh at his utter Frasier Crane-esque snobbish buffoonery. But we are no longer living in a land where even the most gossamer thin of legal and political safeguards, traditions and custom are in operation. He and others of his ilk are at the figurative and now literal whip-hand with absolutely zero compunction about cracking it.
It’s now completely unacceptable for any politician or aspiring politician to express doubt in some of the contested science behind AGW or the proposed measures to counter it (which invariably require higher taxation, more regulation, less business and stronger governments).
And I don’t see that changing any time soon. Despite there being a surprisingly large amount of people in National, ACT and others who are privately very sceptical of this new religious movement.
Helped along by things like this, Buying TV programmes:
People on the Right wonder why National are comfortable with RNZ and TV1 – but if you’re a Chris Luxon or Wayne Mapp inside the National Party, why would you be concerned about this when it actually helps you also push things like Net Zero?
Don’t forget Major we are soon to have an idiot PM who buys into this BS.
Not sure about Seymour but he’s already proven himself to be a total fool doubling down on the “vaccine” and mandate disgrace.
God help us.
