Is Canada the most evil Western country at the moment? Lefties old and new would probably still put the USA in the lead, but that’s because they love what Canada is becoming.

A state where the individual literally lives and dies at the hand of the state if the state is disobeyed in any way.

Unvaxxed Canadian woman dies after being denied organ transplant

Canadian Sheila Annette Lewis died last week because her unvaccinated status denied her a vital organ transplant.  Supporters were raising money on her behalf so that she could go to the United States for the operation.

They didn’t raise enough money.

Remember that in the kindly, compassionate Canadian Health Care system where the State controls everything, money doesn’t matter, unlike that cruel, callous system just across their Southern border.

Speaking of cruel and callous, here’s what a NDP (New Democrat Party) Member of Parliament, Charlie Angus, had to say on the subject: (since deleted of course, but not before the Internet is Forever captured it)

Lewis has not been the only one:

Sudbury, ON, resident Garnet Harper died in April from kidney disease because he couldn’t get a transplant. He was unvaccinated as well.  A nurse asked Harper’s wife if her dying husband would be participating in an organ donor program.

“And I said, ‘are you aware that unvaccinated people are not eligible to receive transplants in Ontario, and that’s a large part of why my husband is lying in this bed right now,’” said Harper’s wife, Meghan.

Many years ago the GOP Presidential candidate Barry Goldwater, said that any government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything you’ve got. He may not have been thinking of your life but that is the logical endpoint.

Aside from having nowhere else to turn for medical treatment but the State system, those who are employed at least have a choice, and at least in one of the US States bordering Canada, Maine, it seems that people once treated like shit by their hospital employers over the vaccines, are now rejecting the generous offers to return:

“As you know, nearly 2 years ago MaineGeneral had to comply with a state mandate for COVID-19 vaccination. We lost a number of great employees as a result, including you.

“You were once a proud member of the MaineGeneral team. Would you consider rejoining us? We would be pleased to discuss options with you,”

But they didn’t just comply; they actively screwed over people like former registered nurse Terry Poland:

In previous years, Poland has said she was allowed an exemption from taking the influenza shot so long as she wore a mask during flu season. However, the hospital was unwilling to provide this accommodation for COVID-19. As a result of her choice, Poland faced not only termination but also an allegation of misconduct from her former employer.

When she applied for unemployment benefits, she was rejected because of the misconduct allegation. When she appealed, she was turned away.

Documents reviewed by the Maine Wire show that the Maine Department of Labor determined that MaineGeneral Health “discharged” her; however, the agency concluded that Poland’s refusal to get the injections was a violation that constituted a “culpable breach of obligations to the employer.”

As a result, Poland had to rely on her savings to get by in the middle of economically disastrous government lockdowns and soaring inflation.

So not just fired, but fired in a way that screwed her over on government benefits.

And now they’re begging her and others like her to come back because of significant staff shortages.

AYFKM?

MaineGeneral is also a non-profit so I don’t think we can blame capitalist greed for the way they treated her. No, they did it for one of two reasons: either because they had the power to punish her as much as possible and wanted to or, because they were callous assholes who just didn’t care.

I’ve heard a lot over the past three years about how compassionate and caring all these policies were because they saved some lives of the old and the sick, but in looking at the costs and benefits I wonder such care balances against the cruelties waged on the other side of the fence?

Labor statistics show Maine is in the middle of the steepest decline in health care jobs. Ever. According to stats from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, those losses have been particularly acute in Maine’s nursing homes and assisted living facilities, like the facility where Poland worked.

Who would ever go back to work for creatures.
