Described as the “Political Editor” for Newstalk ZB, moved from “Political Reporter” at the Herald in June this year and talking to Heather du Plessis Allan last Friday, admitted he had idea what Writ Day (today September 10th) was all about.
“The issue of the writ is a key constitutional step in the election process. It sets out the dates for candidate nominations to close, election day, and the date the writ must be returned showing the successful electoral candidates,”
Would it be improper to consider such ignorance a sort of impediment to being lauded as a Guru in Political Editor status?

Today Dame Cindy Ciro will sign and issue the writ to formally dissolve the 53rd Parliament and direct the electoral Commission to hold an election to establish the makeup of the 54th Parliament after “The Writ” is returned by the commission by November 9th 2023.
