… and other classic journalistic ploys get a hammering in the following X-clip by one Pierre Poilievre, of whom I know nothing since I don’t care much about Canadian politics:

Pierre Marcel Poilievre PC MP (/ˌpɔːliˈɛv/ PAW-lee-EV; born June 3, 1979) is a Canadian politician who has served as the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the leader of the Official Opposition since 2022. Poilievre has served as a member of Parliament (MP) since 2004.

But this is a very good example of how any right-wing politician should deal with these worthless Lefties With Bylines.

Even The Screaming Beard thought that David Seymour easily man-handled some plonker “journalist” named Simon Shepard on something called Newshub Nation (“Luckily for Simon no one watches NewsHub Nation.”) but I saw clips of it on YouTube later and as good as Seymour was I don’t think it comes close to what Poilievre does in the clip above in dealing with the ploys:

  • “Obviously taking the populist pathway…
  • Appealing to people’s more emotional levels…
  • Using ideological language
  • A lot of people would say…
  • Taking a page out of Trump’s book…”

Naturally the word “Trump” gets inserted more than once into the questions because that’s an essential smear to used against Rightie politicians across the Western World nowadays.

My only downtick of Poilievre is his use of the phrase “common sense”, mainly because I’ve heard it too often in NZ political history – even though he’s correct and common sense would make a nice change to what we’ve seen from governments of all stripes in recent years.
