As a little tacker I built a few models, one was an Auster monoplane with a rubber band to drive the propeller. The frame of Balsa wood purchased as a kit from a wee shop in Columbo Street opposite Victoria Park, number in the 700s that informed me about street number. The covering tissue paper strengthened with “dope” and that likely put me off other forms of dope for life, or so far anyway.

That model was to scale and actually flew.

Today every article of faith seems to rely on a “Model” and a hell of a lot of them do not even get airborne let alone fly.

Treasury uses models to measure important stuff such as “Inflation”, that seems to be quite inaccurate, when I go shopping as the price of groceries have an impact on my Credit card that has very little relation with “The Official” figures from models.

Weather forecasters rely on “models” that were so out of sync with reality, even the staff watching events unfold during a flood event that caused serious losses of property and indeed lives in NZ largest city, became astounded at the level of water falling from the sky.
Of course had those “models” actually observed the vast quantity of sea water thrust into the atmosphere and even the stratosphere by the undersea eruptions near Tonga months earlier they might even have come up with “do not compute” as a result.
No, such “models ” can only produce output that is a direct result of human inputs and since that Tongan Seismic event is never mentioned while “Climate Change” must be the only factor in what weather deliveres what will change?

Of course around the Time I built that Auster, I was becoming aware of another bunch of “Models” that had an effect entirely predictable impression although so unreachable as to be as much relevance as the very convenient whipping posts that so many of our best advisers seem to totally rely upon in explaining what “Happened there”.
One recent graphic set were the underpinning reasons promulgated by a stream of experts in how the nation responded to the Chinese lung rot and why so much damage was required to counter yet another virus.

Boy oh boy were those “Models” somewhere out in left field if they ever existed beyond a part of the propaganda employed to control the people and eventually place a majority government in place to really f&%k the country.

Perhaps many of “The Models” currently in use are too expensive and inaccurate, so a cull is needed, btw I have no idea what became of my “Model” Auster.
