All Saints Day is a is a Christian celebration in honour of all the saints of the Church, whether known or unknown, and is celebrated on November 1st but basically extends over three days from October 31st to November 2nd.

Our family had a fun Halloween (All Hallows Eve) as usual – more kids after dark than we expected, which made the various decorations better – but I thought readers might appreciate the following photos from All Saints Day as it is practiced in Poland.

Understand that this is not about beauty, though it is beautiful. This is about memory and love and the hopes that people have about life in this world and the next, both for themselves and those they have loved and lost.
