Today Garrick Tremain arguably one of this nations very best cartoonists has told all why he has been silent since October 14th.

I was one of those who emailed him to reassure myself he was “OK” and a prompt reply of thanks for caring enough to make contact told me pretty much what the great man has told the world today via the Bassett Brash Hide blog.

It will never be revealed just how his almost daily output influenced the election but it is clear it left him somewhat drained hence his departure from cartoon world leaving a veritable army of admirers in a state of deprivation.

I have some notions as to what led Garrick to his decision and his candid and personal reply to my email was treated as private and personal so it is gratifying to read today the public disclosure.

Whatever Mr Tremain chooses to do in the future I wish him every good wish it is fulfilling and enjoyable whatever is involved.
It is well earned and deserved Mr Garrick Tremain, go well to whatever is your desire and heartfelt thanks for all the commentary so many enjoyed over the years.
