As to another tradition we celebrated last night with an opening of presents, a little more conservative now than in the past, the artificial Christmas Tree, almost a “Secret Santa”-one-present-is-all-you-get – but still lovely for all that.

We’re about to get on the road to our lot. Spent yesterday afternoon drinking wine while guarding the smoker as it churned through a 5.5kg brisket, followed by oldest spawn dealing to it overnight via a small bath of water at 100C. It was like jelly when I lifted it into it’s foil container for the trip.
