I reckon The Mex has the form and background to beat Chloe, Julie-Ann Genter and any other contenders for the Green Co-Leadership position left vacant by James Shaw’s resignation. The Mex meets all of the following criteria for selection:

  1. He is not a white cis male – he is Mexican.
  2. He wormed his way into New Zealand so worming his way into the leadership of the Green Party should be easy.
  3. He will have the support of new MP the `push-biker'former Mayor of Wellington Celia Wade-Brown. After all he escorted her down the Parliamentary Aisle yesterday.
  4. Look at his name Ricardo Menendez March. Surely that will scare the Coalition leaders

Finally he is the only male in the front row of the Green MP’s on the Greens website.
