The real action is your target’s reaction.” – H/T James Lindsay

I saw that DPF had a post the other day entitled, UK Left call countryside racist, which included a piece in response from the Tory MP and UK Home Secretary, Suella Braverman (of whom I have approvingly written before):

I was somewhat surprised to read last week that, according to the Wildlife and Countryside Link charity, the countryside is systemically racist and is an environment feared to be “dominated by white people”.

I can’t recall worrying about “colonial legacies framing nature as a white space” while riding horses in the Brecon Beacons. Nor were we fighting racism while hiking in the Lake District. We were more interested in finding the best pub lunch.

Now as much as I like this sort of fightback I can’t help thinking that Ms. Braverman is falling into a trap made by the Left, as was DPF when he added his comment:

The Prime Minister of the UK is Hindu. The First Minister of Scotland is Muslim. The UK is in fact a great example of a society that generally doesn’t judge you by your skin colour, race or religion.

When are Moderate Centre-Right-Wingers like these people going to get a clue about such rationalisations and appeals to reason, or even appeals to what the Left claimed they believe (“The Tories will never have a Brown-skinned PM because they’re all old White Racists, snort, snort”).

THE LEFT DON’T ACTUALLY FUCKING CARE ABOUT ANY OF THIS.

An old quote from Trotsky sums it all up pretty well as he responded to what he called “the high priests of liberalism” who were whinging about how Bolshevik use of arbitrary power seemed no different from Tsarist practices – and sneered at their idiocy:

You do not understand this, holy men? We shall explain it to you. The terror of Tsarism was directed against the proletariat. . . . Our Extraordinary Commissions shoot landlords, capitalists, and generals . . . . Do you grasp this—distinction? For us Communists it is quite sufficient.“

Orwell’s infamous Memory Hole is also a key element.

As such I appreciated the following from a Right-wing atheist commenting on the latest US Lefty wank in election year: the vast and looming threat to America of Christian Nationalism should Trump win. It echos the charges of Dominionism that accompanied milquetoast Mitt Romney’s run as the GOP Presidential nominee in 2012. Not one in ten thousand of the bastards even knew what it was or how fringe it was; who cared when it could be cooked up as yet another political campaign label to hang on the Mormon doofus.

Ace of Spades had a good summary of his points so you don’t have to see the whole thread:

  • Lindsay seems to be dribbling this information out a little at a time, but he recommends studying the Woke manual for activism, Beautiful Trouble.
  • “Christian Nationalism” doesn’t have a definition. It’s an operational term that means whatever it needs to mean moment to moment in order for the operation to succeed.
  • What you are looking at here, and why I did this thread, is called Operational Preparation of the Environment in political warfare talk. If you think this is ridiculous and worth ignoring, that’s because you’re not in the target audience of its psychological active measure. [I prefer the military term, Battlespace Preparation]
  • The objective in saturating a media narrative from multiple kinds of outlets (Vertically Integrated Messaging Apparatus) is to psychologically prime the target audience to believe there’s a lurking or looming threat out there that will become an emergency later at the right time. . .
  • There are two primary target audiences with this issue.
    • First, there’s the center-left, whom they want to have believe in a lurking threat with an identifiable name that’s already associated with things they don’t trust. They’re linking that name to “bad” things they know. The objective [here] is to create a vague sense that Christian Nationalism is real, on the rise, and dangerous, and more importantly that it’s associated in various ways with the worst things they know: Covid, Boebert and Greene, J6, racism, fascism, violence…
    • The other target audience is the red-pilled Right, or at least the dumber among them, who are Christians leaning toward the Christian Nationalism movement. [The Regime] wants them to think the Regime sees it as a threat (it doesn’t) so they think it’s “based” to get involved.

Leftists care above all else about politics, and there’s no point in caring about politics unless you win power so that you can use the power of the State to impose Left-Wing ideas, which don’t just naturally bubble up between people but always require a combination of bribery (“It’s free”) and force.

And therefore, with so much at stake, winning must be accomplished by any means necessary and to hell with hypocrisy and double standards. Of course they have double standards. That’s why this game works for them, that’s the whole fucking point; to apply one set of rules to damage their opponents while not applying the same rules to themselves.
