
One of our biggest commercial media company’s newsrooms – Newshub – is set to close at the end of June, with dozens of journalists out of roles. Warner Bros. Discovery has laid out plans to close its Newshub news division from the end of June, and will apparently look to “co-fund” local news with a partner.
“Look this is awful,” Warner Bros. Discovery NZ boss Glen Kyne told staff at the meeting.
The other three being the NZ Herald, TVNZ and RNZ.
Stuff is so close to being dead that it hardly matters.
I’m sure they’ll blame a whole bunch of things for their death, starting with Google, Facebook and X-Twit grabbing most of their advertising money over two decades and the likes of Craigslist and TradeMe grabbing the Classified market.

They will conveniently ignore the other problems so clearly laid out by former Dominion Post journalist and editor, Karl du Fresne in his farewell blogpost, The case for objectivity in journalism.
This deserves the “Oh no! Anyway…” Jeremy Clarkson meme. Can we make that happen?
