Well…. not quite.

One of my favourite cartoons was the great Calvin and Hobbes, which ran for only a decade, 1984-1994.

Calvin is a 5 year old boy and his favourite toy is Hobbes, a stuffed tiger, who comes to life only for Calvin. Their discussions on all manner of things in life are very much part of the selection of their names.

Herewith are two of my favourites from the series. And yes, both can be read as commentary on politics and our political times.

First up is something that is now more true of television in general than it was in the days of critiquing children’s TV. And Social Media, especially the walled gardens of Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and their ilk, has fared no better.

And the second as a basis for judgement in politics.
