David Farrar on his blog has a recent post celebrating one , if not , the only real achievement of the Adern experiment in Government and governance, that of a change in our foreign policy towards China.
Of course this was not a unique achievement by Adern, President Trump had recognized the threat very early on in his presidency and went as far as imposing tariffs on China, and for very good reasons. What followed, as the Biden presidency, did not radically alter this policy as the deep state in America was wakening up to the growing threat.
A couple of posts down Farrar has a usual swipe at Trump with what is , admittedly a very good meme based around Temu. I’m sure most readers dont need an education on Temu, its the latest iteration of an on line shopping site replacing the likes of AliBaba.
Within that post he declaimed his views on Temu, wonderful, “(often 80% cheaper than NZ prices – I am a regular shopper”. I have staff in my business who pop into my office and exclaim on their latest purchases from Temu.
Like Farrar, I guess they dont seem to reflect on the contradiction. Temu is not set up to benefit them in the long run, it is a arm of Chinese foreign policy aimed at destroying Western Capitalism, and the world we live in.
80% cheaper, including freight to New Zealand. Under a capitalist model it is simply not possible where labour, capital, (machines), the Govt demand a fair return. Of course in NZ the state is claiming more than its fair share.
Farrar , is quite funny because he doesn’t recognise his own internal contradiction, “China not playing by the rules” oh but i can get stuff 80% cheaper, thats fine.
David, good on you, self interest is how capitalism works, and thats how China exploits us, its called the long game.
David, as well, its a shame your TDS blinds you to your contradiction but Adern followed Trump, isnt that hilarious, an avowed Marxist following an avowed capitalist.
I look forward to the US tarriffs that will be imposed by Trump on China, perhaps we can follow suit and support new Zealand business.
Yes to all of that.
He’s just so cringe. So desperate to prove how reasonable and even handed he is. “I agree with Ardern on this, you guys! I surely can’t be the evil, heartless right wing bastard they say I am!” Ugh. What a cuck.
Elsewhere he calls global warming “a threat to biodiversity”, because, as everybody knows, those lush jungles near the equator where it’s always 30 degrees are completely lacking in variety…
I think many of us on the right thought the way he does in the first decade of the millennium, but most of us figured out that way of thinking was a big old fail and got hard as realities set in. David never changed, and never adapted, and now he sucks.
Yeah, I liked this quote from “Doc Zero”, which I quoted in my 2022 post, No Hillbillies Wanted:
That was Wyane Mapp here as well; a gatekeeper who was constantly yammering about me being on the fringes of the Right, but whom I never saw, and still never see, making the mirror-image claims about the Left – being “Far Left”, “fringe” and “out of the mainstream” – even as he comments on places like The Standard and The Psychic Scream against people who are most definitely Far Left.
*Ardern
No… lower case please. It is the least we can do.
