There is an old saying, “Those That Can Do, Do” “While Those Who Can’t Teach”.
I always considered it harsh on quite a few of my Teachers through life as there were a good number who were not only excellent at imparting knowledge, they were inspiring and relished watching students become equipped with the basic know how as to how to learn even more. Learning to learn if you will.

It is becoming clearer with each year that passes and they are mounting steadily, that teaching how to learn is being replaced with what a student “will” learn.
The teachers ideology is now replacing “how” to “what” with universities that previously held dear to aligning an inquiring mind to expand the thinking by selecting and divesting of what became apparent as useless. Hence many ultra conservatives dabbled with Communism and collective thought before emerging as being able to see with their own eyes how so much of socialism fails as People of the ability of Churchill, Thatcher and many others eventually became.

Churchill bequeathed many little icons of English expression while Thatcher immortal words on “Socialism only existing so long as other peoples money remained to finance it”.

Yet the world over sees leader after leader accumulating wealth while those who began the journey with little have no compunction in becoming wealthy beyond the understanding of those who financed their rise garnering of great riches.
“Airbus Albo” currently the occupant of the top job in Canberra ACT, revels in repetitively telling his masses how he began life in a little state house where his old Mum lived for all her adult life, likewise the Dim Dem candidate for POTUS of the US delivers adnauseum her humble beginnings that in those times were not so detrimental to development of a successful citizen.

In crude hypocrisy these so called elites are absolutely shameless in their grasping at all the accoutrements the born wealthy consume with a nonchalance.

But I Digress, yesterday the NZ coalition delivered a policy to reduce the costs of building by allowing builders to self regulate standards as Plumbers, Electricians, Motor Mechanics and many other have successfully demonstrated for decades, with their professional reputation being the sharpest monitoring of their work quality, in other words allowing the Market to operate.
Building inspectors come in many guises and quality, some are excellent often ex successful builders while others come to the elite office totally devoid of any practical understanding and one can only speculate who was the moron who removed the “red sticker” from the CTV building after the Charing Cross centered quake in 2010, when all occupants evacuated that building only for the structure to fail spectacularly in the Heathcote Valley centered event some months later with the biggest loss of life from that February Quake.
While authority has pursued the designer of that fated structure with unrelenting desire to hold him to account the clearly incompetent “Building Inspector” has never been named of even hinted as to why he removed the red sticker.

I consider the reduction in compliance costs of this feature of building regulation to be long over due, far better to monitor any short cutting or shoddy work by pursuing those responsible for its delivery with the full force of the law and disallow the current escape routes by changing the Name of a Building company every so often to be no longer available. It was widely accepted that it was OK to go after a former PM and her fellow directors in Mainzeal, why not the principals of a building company.
