This should be a bigger story but there’s so much happening in the USA that, as dramatic and harsh as it is, it’s already started to leave the news cycle.

Which is a pity because it really does have everything;

  • personal and political hatreds infesting a huge US government bureaucracy that’s supposed to help people during natural and man-made disasters,
  • a small non-MSM news site breaking the story, right in the middle of a Presidential election campaign where one person is the Vice President of the Administration that controls FEMA.,
  • The online Left at first trying to dismiss it as yet another Trump conspiracy theory, pressuring the MSM to do likewise,
  • The MSM doing their bidding,
  • One MSM source actually then reporting the story but giving no credit to the original reporting.

Ok, so it doesn’t have sex.

The agency is FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which had already suffered a PR black eye a few weeks ago in the wake of Hurricane Hellene devastating parts of North Carolina when it turned out to be less competent than local rescuers and even briefly claimed they’d run out of money.

Now they have a much bigger problem, courtesy of The Daily Wire’s story on November 9, FEMA Official Ordered Relief Workers To Skip Houses With Trump Signs:

A federal disaster relief official ordered workers to bypass the homes of Donald Trump’s supporters as they surveyed damage caused by Hurricane Milton in Florida, according to internal correspondence obtained by The Daily Wire and confirmed by multiple federal employees. 

They also had the receipts in the form of pictures of the text messages clearly instructing crews to “avoid homes advertising Trump”, which made the next stage of this tale even juicier as the Left, already starting to panic about Harris’s chances of winning, dismissed the story via social media, which then caused the MSM to ignore the story and accuse Trump of lying and politicising a tragedy just to trash yet another government agency to hurt Harris and not caring that causing people to lose trust and faith in FEMA might cost lives – a stance that collapsed when FEMA announced it had fired the employee for precisely that reason.

Faced with this fact one of America’s biggest networks, NBC, did finally report on the story, but without crediting the original reporters, and treating it as a complete mystery (that at least was later corrected) and then got very angry when called out on this on her Xitter account:

The story went viral – and was eventually picked up by NBC News reporter Mirna Alsharif (formerly CNN), who proceeded to not only rip off the report without citing the Daily Wire, she completely nerf’d it – failing to adhere to basic journalistic standards despite all of that information having been reported by DW. When she was called out for her shitty reporting, Alsharif had a complete meltdown on X – claiming that the Daily Wire wasn’t her source, and hurtling High School insults at reporters.

People had the receipts on all that too, even as she deleted her Xitter account, something happening more with MSM reporters now, as you can read at the link.

But this story may also have longer legs because the fired employee is fighting back, claiming that this was actual FEMA policy and she was just following orders:

Naturally there are now follow-up stories suggesting that the policy was a reasonable response to the possibility that Trump supporters – hating government as they do – would attack FEMA people. I don’t think that stance will last long either, especially since even the MSM could find no evidence of attacks to support that belief.
