Meh. I think she’s actually just greasing up to the crowds who would destroy her career in a heartbeat if she went against them. Cowardly for sure, but that’s entertainment for you.
In keeping with your use of the See You Next Tuesday description I recall a story I heard back in the late 80’s from an Irish guy who’d gone to pubs in the late 70’s when U2 were playing in such places. Apparently Bono was just as big a wanker on lecturing the audience then as he was when fame hit. During one of these diatribes a guy in the Irish audience yelled out:
No… she really is a nastyass person. I don’t make excuses for her. My wife hates her because she started off Country and then sold out. She’s a surfboard who thinks she’s a Ten. And her music sucks.
