Most plastic simply cannot be recycled – Greenpeace, October 24, 2022

I posted about this matter a couple of years ago, based mainly on 1996 article in, of all places, the NYT, that trashed the whole concept. The writer of that original article, John Tierney, says he got more hate mail for it than any other article he ever wrote.

John Stossel interviews John Tierney but focuses mainly on plastic recycling, of which only about 5% is actually re-used. He also covers most of the the same points: the 1987 US garbage barge story that pushed the modern recycling movement; the effectiveness of land fills and their vast capacity; the energy wastage in recycling, and so forth.
