This is like relaxing in a warm bath with a good whiskey and a cigar while someone else tops it up with hot water every now and again. I’m watching the Democrat Party desperately try to come to grips with losing to Trump. Aside from perhaps one person, communist (small c) Van Jones, they’re still not getting it – and by “they” I mean the Democrat Party and the MSM.

The Democrat Party

Van Jones has at least shown that he has a sense of humour I had not seen before, as if he’s been freed from having to bullshit voters on CNN and MSNBC. This CNN piece from just a few days after the election set the scene.

“Therapy. Therapy.  We are all going to therapy”

After getting therapy by relaxing in a spa with cucumber water (and a cookie), he has returned a month later to deliver some tough messages to his fellow Democrats.

First up, Kamala Harris is toast. Hard to believe anybody needs to be told this but apparently there have been polls suggesting she’s a front-runner for 2028, which is but a reflection of her name recognition that is merely the afterglow of her campaign.

Then there’s the matter of the echo chamber censorship and Cancel Kulture that is the modern Democrat Party, because that’s the result of the modern Left toxicity of Identity Politics, Woke and the now old-fashioned term Political Correctness having destroyed people with independent ideas.

Aside from the big strategic problems that Jones see, are also the tactical problems the Democrats face in reaching out to voters, and this part – from a one-on-one interview with Democrat “journalist”, Chris Cillizza – is especially funny:

Cillizza: “How the hell did Donald Trump figure out that the mainstream media is the fringe and the fringe is now the mainstream…. the 78 year old guy who doesn’t even have a computer and still like, writes handwritten notes? How did he become the guy who cracked the code?”

Van Jones: “The problem is you have a framework in your mind that: how could Donald Trump,.. how could Donald Trump,… how could Donald Trump? Guys can we cut it out? Donald Trump is not an idiot… Let me just be very clear. Donald Trump is smarter than me, you and all the critics. You know how we know? Because he has the White House, the Senate, the House, the popular vote….This dude is a phenomenon. He is the most powerful human on earth and in our lifetime. And we’re still saying, Well, how is this Guy…? We look like idiots.

He then expands on that point by focusing on the whole question of the Democrat Party reliance on the MSM and dismissing the Joe Rogan world as “fringe”, when in fact it’s become the opposite.

Van Jones: “We woke up in a body bag on Election Day and didn’t even know it. Why? Because we thought that because CNN, NPR, New York Times, all of the mainstream media was pretty much beating the hell out of Trump, that Trump was getting the hell beat out of him.

The mainstream media is the fringe. The fringe is now the mainstream. When if I’m sitting next to Anderson Cooper, I’m talking to a million people, maybe 1,000,000 down the road. If you go on Fox, we’re talking to 3 million, maybe 3.2. And there’s some Twitch streamer, a Twitch streamer you’ve never heard of talking to 14 million people
We got beat on platforms I’ve never heard of: Twitch, Kick, Rumble…. When Joe Rogan sits down with Donald Trump, 48 million people watched the YouTube of the podcast. We didn’t have that many people watching the debate on CNN.

Back to his discussions with the wider audience where he expands on this point in talking about how it was more than faces on a screen though:

Van Jones: “Digital is the new doorknocking. You got to understand that we were laughing our butts off at Donald Trump for suspending his door knocking campaign and letting Charlie Kirk and Elon do a bunch of stuff online with it.”

The MSM

As to that dead legacy media? Well, like Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense, they don’t even know that they’re dead. As such they’re more clueless than Van Jones or even the Democrat Party, who at least know they can’t rely on the MSM to set narratives and frame debates in future. The two Grand Dame Zombies of the status quo commiserating with each other in the following clip is a great insight into their death.

Un-fucking believable. The MSM isn’t imploding because of their own shitty actions and bias: no, even that is Trump’s fault. She bemoans how the media is no longer trusted, “We’re way down there with the lawyers. We’re way down there with Congress.”

FFS, in 2020 Lesley Stahl was all in on denying that Hunter Biden’s laptop was real. So much so that she argued with Trump about it during their interview and did a foot-stamping refusal to let him talk about it. She herself, and her shitty network are but one, huge example of why the industry is effectively dead – and she doesn’t even realise it. See what I mean about the comparison to The Sixth Sense? At least that character finally figured it out. If Stahl hasn’t by now I’d say there’s no hope.

Meanwhile on her alternative media platform, where she’s been since leaving FoxNews, another MSM industry veteran, Megyn Kelly, fierily wrecks Stahl and her show “60 Minutes” in just 60 seconds, bringing her up to date with the most recent crap her network pulled on Trump – although I don’t agree with Wall Street Mav that her advice can enable them to recover their credibility as Stahl hopes. That’s dead as well.

Like maybe don’t say the laptop can’t be verified when it can. And then when your own organization verifies it, come out and do a mea culpa and admit you embarrassed yourself.

Maybe don’t stealth edit the presidential candidate, on the Democrat’s side, interview with ’60 Minutes’ – your flagship program that you’re an anchor of — without telling us, and then when it becomes a controversy, refuse to release the transcript because you’re more interested in running cover for the Dems than you are in honest reporting.

Maybe don’t host a vice-presidential debate where you fact-check only one side. And then when your fact-check gets fact-checked by the vice-presidential candidate on the Republican side, you cut his mic.

It’s hardly a surprise when another former MSM veteran, Don Surber, looks at all this wreckage, denial and delusion, including the Democrat Party blaming the MSM for their loss, and draws the obvious conclusion in explaining that all this is he why he wants Dems to continue to rely on MSM:

Decades of media adoration made Democrats fat and lazy. Unchallenged by reporters, their debating skills dulled. Conservatives upped their game. Scott Jennings now dominates CNN discussion panels. It is called preparation.
