A ship that cost in excess of 100 million, placed under the command of an ex Royal Navy Lesbian, who in the leadup to appointment was holidaying in Australia with her partner in a motor home on the Nullabor, that ship became apparently uncontrolled and hit a reef off a Pacific Island caught fire and sank and all those who questioned the DEI appointment were excoriated substantially as “armchair admirals”.

Last night Sky News Au was speculating about the DEI influence of the many now in the crosshairs of Armchair Forest fire fighters, as being rather doubtful in their competence to manage the major disaster still unfolding in Southern California.
One such person now a Fire Chief was portrayed in her appointment as being focussed on getting racial and gender based targets as a priority in her management style over basic fire fighting knowledge and understanding
Now colour me surprised but a decade and a half of first response I did garner a little bit of the tactics of rural fire fighting and what racial group and gender a fire fighter came from, mattered very little beyond physical strength and intellect in what such nonsense brought to bear in sheer capability.

Now I have absolutely no problems with any appointment to. any role so long as the eventual appointment is of the very best qualified person available. Race Gender and sexual preference is of zero significance in any appointment.
However as with vegans, transgender aficionados , seem unable to leave their predilections at the door of a meeting or an office (how long to ascertain if someone is vegan, very short order before they will tell you).
It is well established that cellphone use while driving will diminish concentration levels of drivers so why does the concentration on DEI not have a similar interference for managers performance in a primary role.
