The malady now exposed is this: the elites have lost faith in representative democracy. To smash the nightmare image of themselves that Trump evokes, they are willing to twist and force our system until it breaks… The implications are clear. Not only Trump, but the nearly 75 million Americans who voted for him, must be silenced and crushed. To save democracy, it must be modified by a possessive: “our democracy.”

Not only bring the grievances in the bar complaints, but shame them and make them toxic in their communities and in their firms. I think the littler fish are probably more vulnerable to what we’re doing. You’re threatening their livelihood. And, you know, they’ve got reputations in their local communities. – David Brock, Democrat Project 65

I listed the challenges facing the GOP in 2024 in Part 1, but the following video is a superbly concise summary from the start of 2024 to see what the GOP was facing.
While the retirement of Mitch McConnell – leveraging his hands of the money spout to his favourite GOP Senators – the resignation of the feckless, useless RNZ Chair, Rona Romney McDaniel, and her replacement by the smart and ruthless combo of Michael Whatley and Lara Trump, sparked hope that the GOP might not be as useless in 2024 as it had been in 2018, 2020 and 2022, there was still a hell of a lot of work to do and little time in which to do it.
There were three areas to focus on, most related to that video above.
- Building a legal machine to challenge that of the Democrats everywhere all the time.
- Ensuring voter integrity (partly linked to #1)
- Building a Get-Out-The-Vote machine.
Facing the Democrat Legal Machine
As early as January 2024, none other than Leftist Traitor, Matt Taibbi, looked at statements about Trump from many Democrat Party mavens – the “threat to Democracy”, “a clear and present danger”, “an existential moment for American democracy”, “he’s going to try to use the military” – looked also at the deliberately leaked stories about Democrat “simulations” of the election with the TIP group (Transition Integrity Project) that had Trump doing all manner of terrible things, and wondered, Is the Electoral Fix Already In?:
The 2024 presidential race increasingly looks like it will be decided by lawyers, not voters, as Democrats unveil plans for America’s first lawfare election
…
For over a year, the Biden administration and its surrogates have dropped hint after hint that the plan for winning in 2024 — against Donald Trump or anyone else — might involve something other than voting. Lawsuits in multiple states have been filed to remove Trump from the ballot; primaries have been canceled or invalidated;
With the “anyone else” the Democrats said what they would do to them:
Through every channel we have, to their donors, their friends, the press, everyone — everyone — should send the message: If you have one fingernail clipping of a skeleton in your closet, we will find it… If you think you were vetted when you ran for governor, you’re insane. That was nothing. We are going to come at you with every gun we can possibly find. We did not do that with Jill Stein or Gary Johnson, we should have, and we will not make that mistake again.
No wonder RFK Jnr sided with Trump. That’s the problem with making enemies. The net also wrapped around small fish in the GOP world:
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel filed felony charges against 16 Michigan Republicans who allegedly tried to overturn the state’s 2020 election in favor of President Donald Trump…Nessel claimed the 16 Republicans tried to “interfere in the 2020 election to reject the will of the voters. Nessel’s office detailed the Republicans’ alleged plot.
There have been faithless electors before but they were never treated like this and there is no such legal entity as “fake electors”.
An investigation launched by Arizona’s Democratic Attorney General Kris Mayes is seeking another round of indictments against so-called “fake electors” in Arizona, or rather, people who believed former president Donald Trump won the state in 2020. . . These so-called “fake electors” include current state representative Jake Hoffman, former state representative Anthony Kern, US Senate candidate Jim Lamon, the chairman of the Arizona GOP Dr. Kelli Ward, and Tyler Bowyer, CEO at the Arizona-based Turning Point USA.
This from the Democrat party and its institutional allies that formally objected to every GOP presidential certification this century and shamelessly and publicaly attempted to turn Electoral College electors against Trump in 2016.
“Uttering and publishing” for thee but not for me! If you’re a loyal leftist partisan harping on voting machines and Russian “hacking,” objecting to every GOP victory, and demanding electors vote against the will of the people, you’re a hero and protector of democracy. If you do the same to the benefit of a Republican candidate, you’ve fomented a “coup attempt” and betrayed the soul of the nation.
The threats were also directed at any lawyer who might consider working for the Trump campaign in any capacity, with a Democrat “dark money” group called Project 65 in the lead with a social media post:
Don’t let partisan politics endanger your standing with the bar…Don’t risk your law license by joining an effort to subvert democracy. We – and the public – are watching.
This was no idle threat. In 2020, the law firm that represented Trump post-election, Porter Wright, was slapped with ethics complaints involving two of its attorneys days after the election before any hearings on challenges to the election could occur. This time one of the key people behind Project 65 was long-time Clinton ally, David “Dolls Eyes” Brock, and he went even further in his threats:
Not only bring the grievances in the bar complaints, but shame them and make them toxic in their communities and in their firms. I think the littler fish are probably more vulnerable to what we’re doing. You’re threatening their livelihood. And, you know, they’ve got reputations in their local communities.
How’s that for subverting democracy in America?
And more than just threats to lawyers, with Mr Taibbi being very prescient here (and as always read the whole thing):
An ominous Washington Post editorial by Robert Kagan, husband to senior State official Victoria Nuland, read like an APB to assassins to head off an “inevitable” Trump dictatorship.
A couple of months later a different use of Democrat lawyers was observed; ones involved in voter suppression enabled by screaming about… voter suppression:
Early in his presidency, Joe Biden appointed Levitt as the White House election czar…Formerly the senior policy adviser for democracy and voting rights to the White House, Levitt got his big break in 2004-2005 when he served as in-house counsel to America Coming Together (ACT). ACT was to serve as the left’s one-stop-shop for get-out-the-vote and all things voting.
…
In Marion County, the Ohio Republican Party sought a restraining order against ACT for allegedly sending GOP voters messages directing them to the wrong polling place. Ultimately, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) fined Levitt’s group $775,000 — the third largest fine in FEC history and the largest ever for a group of its type at the time — for multiple violations of federal campaign finance laws.
The article details other work Levitt did for Biden before he departed the White House, like being a key leader at the Brennan Center, a leftist think tank that considers itself a leading voice on elections and campaign finance. What a joke. Naturally he attacked the new election laws passed by the GOP in Georgia: he was likely the source of Biden’s claim that they were “Jim Crow” laws that suppressed minorities. In fact Georgia’s first election after the adoption of the package of election reforms saw record turnout, as people voted in the confidence that their votes would not cancelled by cheating.
The voter stunts pulled by the Democrat Party were also small, but in key places:
- In Maricopa County (Phoenix) Arizona, almost one third of voting machines were inoperable until mid-afternoon on Election Day 2020.
- In Luzerne County, PA “dozens of polling places ran out of printer paper for ballots. Voters had to be turned away.”
In every case the Democrat Party had lawyers to burn while the GOP did not, or tried to ship them in at the last moment – which then saw them fail because they did not have standing with the local courts. Most of the election fraud cases the Trump campaign lost in 2020 (60 out of 88) was because of this: in the other 28 cases where standing was allowed and evidence presented, Trump or the GOP litigant prevailed in 21.
But it was not enough, and on top of that the Trump campaign basically ran out of money for lawyers in the last three weeks of the campaign. The myriads of acts of fraud and election malfeasance committed in 2020 could not be intercepted on or before election day and fighting them afterward was a losing proposition from the start.
Building the GOP Legal Machine
Lara Trump and Michael Whatley were determined not to let any of this happen in 2024 and they did it by undertaking some fairly simple measures:
- A vast sum of money was spent recruiting hundreds of lawyers and hundreds of thousands of poll watchers.
- The lawyers were specific to each states’ election laws and the poll watchers were trained up on the law.
- Multiple lines of communication between the poll watchers and the legal teams were setup and tested before any voting started.
- The lawyers were plentifully deployed in battleground states.
They were phenomenally successful. Various incidents cropped up in the weeks leading up to the election and on the day itself, all of which had been seen in 2020 and all focused in GOP strongholds at the precinct level:
- Shutting down early voting lines too early.
- Malfunctioning machines remaining mysteriously unfixed.
- Barring Republican poll watchers.
In every case the legal teams swiftly intervened and the threat of legal action was often enough to get a behaviour change. When legal action made it to court, there was no bullshit about the lawyers lacking standing for any reason and the well documented evidence was almost always sufficient to have a capricious ruling or procedure overturned or aligned with state law. The GOP ended up filing over 130 election integrity lawsuits during the election with wins both large and small:
- In Pennsylvania, the state Supreme Court, despite having a left-leaning majority, ruled that misdated mail-in ballots cannot be counted. A total contrast to 2020.
- In the same state in October 24, a GOP poll watcher was arrested when she saw an election worker telling people in the long lines that if it wasn’t critical for them to vote, they should get out of line., protested this and encouraged them to stay in place. She was soon released and the GOP lawyers then hit multiple PA local courts with this and other evidence, won, and returned to polling places to let everybody – including those “election officials” – that they would be the ones getting arrested if any more such stunts were pulled.
On the day itself:
- Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton destroyed the plan the Federal DOJ had to send its people into polling and counting places. The DOJ caved after a threatened lawsuit.
- The Feds did get away with the same stunt in Missouri where they claimed they needed to enforce the American with Disabilities Act for disabled voters.
Not even such a comprehensive GOP operation could cover everything. In Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington, IEDs were used to incinerate “hundreds of ballots” in two ballot boxes several days before the election, while other chicanery occurred on election day across the nation.
But the effort worked where it mattered, in the seven battleground states. As always with an American election there was cheating, but this time the GOP succeeded in squeezing it down to low levels.
