Both David Farrar and David Seymour have been on Bomber Bradbury’s podcast show, The Working Group.
I appreciated it given the collapse of long-form TV current affairs shows, but after this bullshit from Bradbury I think they should tell him to get bent from here on after this commentary about Seymour getting the microphone ripped away from him during a speech at Waitangi:
He went to Troll and protestors took the bait by removing his microphone.
David can now whine on about Free Speech and how Māoridom don’t want a debate and play the victim which is exactly what he wanted.
…
This is a tactic that could have worked late 1990s, early 2000s, but this is 2025…. Instead of seeing David as a Free Speech Champion, people feel he’s being a dick and he’s lucky he’s not getting a hiding from the Aunties!
Just to ram home the point he includes a YouTube video of some Antifa “hero” smashing White Nationalist Richard Spencer.
It’s likely too much to ask but I think all the right-wing parties should simply ignore Waitangi from here on. I recall Helen Clark doing that for a few years after the toxic piece of shit Titewhai Harawira got in her face and made her cry. Given how bloody tough Clark was that said something about how nasty Harawira could be, like the rest of her shitty family.
But I don’t recall the rest of NZ giving a shit just because the Prime Minister wasn’t there. It’s a day best ignored by decent, civilised people.
You do know that this whole Waitangi thing is a National Party of New Zealand screw up.
The Treaty was given legal validity in 1975 by that idiot Nat, Sir Douglas Graham and ever since then people have been finding things in it which would have astonished those that framed it, way back when.
National not Labour are responsibe for the growtth of the grievance industry, the only industry currently experiencing growth in NZ
Why do you think my kids have all bailed, this Nation’s future is looking bleak, very effing bleak
For some reason we have to pay penances for things we didn’t do to people who didn’t have them done to them because when it comes down to it none of us were actually alive when they happened.
Why do you think my kids have all bailed,….
My kids haven’t – yet, but they’re younger than yours (I think), telling me they know they should leave, but desperately hanging on, believers in “community”.
I’ve told them that their instincts are correct and that it’s time to leave before their lives get totally screwed up here. It will also make my decisions easier if I see a tax-thirsty Labour coming to power in 2029 or (hopefully) 2032 (I’m not ready for them in 2026).
Could Not agree more, Tom same for Ratana, leave the grievance warriors nothing to punch along with their enablers and fellow travellers.
I fear Luxon has made a correct decision in staying away but for all the wrong reasons.
Leave then to wallow in their self flagellation and to make that happen they need to sell the remaining media and if necessary pay someone to take it over.
Waitangi Day should have been named New Zealand Day (or better still New Zealand Harmony Day). Radical political activists who want to destroy our equality, unity, harmony, mutual respect and cooperation should have been barred from participating.
Let them promote their division and hatred somewhere else or preferably not at all.
Unfortunately, New Zealand lacks any leaders with an inspiring vision for their nation and its people.
Consequently, we do not know where we are going and therefore how to get there.
Without a vision for a desired future to strive for, people just complain about the present and what happenned in the past they did not live in and do not understand.
A notion of divided people cannot survive.
New Zealand will become a colony of China.
That might be better than what it is now.
I’ve seen Seymour in TDB many times and although I don’t agree with all of his views, he’s always well spoken, has his facts straight (unlike Simon Wilson), is articulate, and measured in what he says.
And Bomber is always quite subdued in his questions to him.
But then the next day he’ll write some vitriolic piece about Seymour on TDB saying things that he simply didn’t have the balls to say to his face.
I applaud David Seymour for doing what politicians should do. Not being afraid to appear in “hostile” environments. I always applauded James Shaw for fronting on the Hoskings breakfast show (unlike Jacinda Ardern that ran away from it)
Bomber is just another keyboard warrior. I’m sure he sees himself as a champion of the left, but he’s just a petulant loud mouth that never escaped being a university student.
As for Waitangi Day? I’m probably more left wing(ish) then most people here but if Labour/TPM/Greens get in I can’t see myself staying in this country. There are plenty of beautiful places around the world to live.
Andrei not Sir Doug Graham who was in Parliament 1984 until 1999.
You may mean the Late Norman Kirk.
Wouldn’t ’75 be Wowling? Or was Kirk’s ghost active?
I didn’t check when Kirk died MTT and had transferred to Suva in August 1974 when he was still PM.
If it was Rowling then Matt Rata probably drove it.
I know we enjoyed 3 great `shouts’ by the NZ High Commissioner (McDowell I think) while we were in Suva which made the name of the event irrelevant.
