A month ago I wrote about the phenomena of working from home, how this long-expected change in work habits had exploded with the Chinese Lung Rot Lockdowns, and how government is still in that mode especially in the USA (Government At Work).
Part of that post included a video on X recorded by the new head of the Small Business Administration, Kelly Loeffler, when she turned up at HQ on a Friday:
This time it’s for a much larger agency with a much larger task, overseeing the roughly $8.5 trillion of home mortgages run by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Federal Home Loan Bank System. As usual it raises the obvious questions:
- What are they doing and what have they been doing?
- Do we really need all these people to do that work?
There’s also a question begged even in asking those questions, which is:
- Does this work need to be done at all?
H/T to Josef Stalin for the title of this post, with the full quote found here
“H/T to Josef Stalin for the title of this post, with the full quote found here“
Leads to a broken link which is most likely appropriate because a lot of Stalin quotes on this interwebby thing were never said by him at all.
same is true for Churchill as well tho to a lesser extent
Grrrr…. technical fault and yes on that last, which the link notes as actually having been said by one Anatoly Rybakov – which is why I put the link in.
But it sounds way better coming from Stalin than some lessor being in the USSR. 🙂
Some people are worse than nothing. They cost you money. The bureaucracy must be stripped of power. Reducing numbers is too simple. An efficient govt is a more scary scenario. They need to be denumbered and depowered.
I am sure similar empty offices abound in teh Govt quarter and along The Terrace, Lambton Quay in Wellytown as well.
The streets at lunchtimes are often very quiet unlike 2019…
National don’t have a ruthless streak hence why things will improve in the States but this country is well and truly poked..
